It's kind of odd to me how the main character in the game is the ONLY person in the game to not have a local accent. Everyone else is British but the main character sounds like he is from the Midwest part of America.
Anybody have any ideas why?? I just find it odd that's all.

I guess we became a republic eventually, and the Brits decided to invade this country (again!) sending us into the dystopia styled future. Or something.
Of course it's possible Fosters accent comes from the mixed upbringing of the culture mash in the gap.

To me it sort of clashes with the rest of the cast. Not in a game breaking way though but it does throw me off a bit XD.

I watch a lot of it too and I'm quite used to the British accents. Like I said it was the lack of one on the main character that was a bit jarring for me.

maybe the cast was chosen that way on purpose to make foster seem even more isolated? what about joey? does he have an accent?

From what I could tell he sounded American-ish but then again the actor's voice is heavily digitized or whatever the term is for making someone's voice sound robotic in nature.

Im not sure what your asking, the game was made by Revolution Software - a British software company. Jusy because they made a game thats set in a fictional australia, it would still have been much easier for them to hire mostly english actors.

And that's why he's wondering why the main character, and only him, sounds American rather than British, much less Australian.

The game came either on a set of floppy disks, or on a CD-ROM with full speech (the 'talkie' version). The dubbed version of the game uses actors sporting a variety of British accents, despite the game being set in future Australia. One character, Eduardo the gardener, does have an Australian accent. Robert Foster himself has an American accent, making some of his British English phrases sound incongruous. At one point the subtitles say "JUMPER" but Robert does say "sweater". At another, a dialogue choice is a distinctly British "it's well smart!" but the voice actor says "It's totally cool".
from wikipedia, but i noticed that sometimes the dialogue didn't match the writing.. and it was always in that kind of situation.
