You can hit escape to skip the intro, and F5 to get to the save/load pause screen right after.

teen agent is like that too, you have to watch the intro. supposedly you can skip it with some key or another, but that doesn't always work for me, sometimes, i end up watching the whole intro before i can load my game!

If I remember right, there are some command-line switches for BASS that control the intro, among other things. I can't remember what they are, and I'm having trouble finding the info online. Might be something worth looking into.

Found the problem, pushing escape did nothing, but pushing F5 works.

It doesn't work. Hitting F5 or ESC works sometimes, but I can't isolate a rule for the timing. You have to do it at a certain moment. It's very frustrating. I think I'm in the mid-game and I'm about to quit.

Maybe try a recent development build of ScummVM to run the game (a stable 2.2.0 will also be available soon-ish, in about a month's time).

Esc (or skip button mapped to something else via the latest ScummVM keymapper option) has worked for me without issues.
