Hi,
are you on XP ?
Any chance you lowered/disabled sound hardware acceleration to play some other game and forgot to inccrease/enable it again ?
Hey
Yeh i am on XP. I don't think i've done that, but if i have, how would i reverse it? or set it back to default?
thanks

Click on Start, clik on Run.
On the box type dxdiag and click ok.
Switch to the Sound tab. There's a slider that controls the level of sound hardware acceleration.

brilliant thank you that's worked a treat! I'll remember that for future DOS/very old games!

I'd just like to mention that because of ScummVM, the game doesn't actually run like a DOS game. DOS games couldn't access any hardware acceleration anyway.
