So, my brother generously gifted me Battletech, and we realised you get free Shadowrun Returns too. Great. I saw him just click a download link and he's pretty much straight into the game.
I've tried it on my PC, and it seems like I'm just trying to download some DLC? It has links for Part 1 and 2. Those then seem to want to install in specific already existing folders... which I don't have.

Anyone got any clues? I'm guessing I'm just clueless.

The installer might be designed to work with GOG Galaxy.

I installed it myself via GOG Galaxy and verified that the game does launch properly.

If you picked the "classic installers" option in the "More" drop down menu when looking at the game in your library in your browser, you should have been able to download the non GoG Galaxy version.
Bit shitty that ALL the backers oif this game paid MORE than the delux edition and DONT get a free copy of shadow run.

Would have liked to try that game as it gets good reviews and don't know anything about it.

Seems a bit of a kick in the balls
Kickstarter is a donation site. Any rewards you get is just a thank you, not a purchase. Gifting a donation is likely to be a worse deal than hunting for bargains close to release. But the point of the donation is that the project gets funded in the first place and helps to create a game that you want to exist.

GoG is providing the free game, it is something they are doing on their own to entice more sales on GoG, it is not a deal in collaboration with HBS. So you cannot expect GoG to give a free game to people who didn't buy it from GOG and GoG didn't get any money from their copy.

That's right, it's what I did since I'm not interested in additional software, just the games.
