I like the fact GOG bundled my preorder with Shadowrun Returns, I like they have the policy of putting some euro in my wallet to compensate for the currency differences (Fair Price Package), but I don't like they discounted the game by 10% on the day of the release.

I understand discounting the game later on but.... come on, on the release date after accepting pre-orders?

Today buyers are getting exactly the same I got, with an extra 10% discount.

I didn't even want something extra, I was ok pre-ordering and not getting anything more, but I didn't expect to be slapped in the face while I was handing over the money.

Even if love GOG, I admit this is really pissing me off, and it will change my relationship with GOG.

What does HBS offering a release day discount have to do with GoG? They aren't the ones deciding on the sale.
Do you know that for a fact ?

Or it's just you making suppositions ?

I checked on Steam and it appears to be at full price, so I find hard to believe this is not just a GOG's decision.

EDIT: I see, I'll keep thinking what I wrote in the first post unless something different is substantiate in some way.

But In any case I bought it from GOG, so even if it was not their decision (which at the moment I think it is) the outcome would be still the same for me and woudn't change much from my point of view. They are my interlocutors.

I don't see any discount on the game, what are you talking about?

You are coming from the USA, I don't. Try with a proxy.

The situation is how I described it in my first post.

10% of discount on the day of the release after accepting pre-orders at full price.

Next ...

EDIT: apparently it doesn't have anything to do with coming from Italy instead of USA, I saw a different price because I was logged in one case (Italy) and not in the other (USA) ... see the following posts ...

FYI: Thread starter isn't crazy.

I preordered. I saw the same post-release offer. I'm in the US, so that has nothing to do with it.

This is the first game I've ever preordered on GOG and seeing the day 1 discount bothered me a bit. But hey, we got the pre-order wallpaper. That's worth $4...right? Right?!

That's interesting, thanks for letting me know.
If I connect from the USA (Texas) right now I don't see the discount, but I still see it if I come from Italy.

I pre-ordered twice, one was the Witcher 3, and now this.

The Witcher 3 because I had faith in the developers and because for some reason they seemed eager to get pre-orders, so I did it.

Battletech because I wanted to give a signal to the developers single-player games Mechwarrior /Mechcommander-like are still in demand and wanted to show my appreciation for making such a game.

It's not really about the money, it's just that I'm pissed off for the treatment.

EDIT: this is interesting
If I log out and look at the price, the game costs 39.99 euro.
If I log in, the game is discounted... 35.99.
???

Contact support. They will refund the game as Wallet funds and you can repurchase it with the 10% discount. They will also give you a key to get your pre-order bonus back.

Also note: You only get the 10% discount if you have FTL or Into the Breach. No discount without either of those games.

Just as a fyi, from the other threads on this topic, the 10% were for owners of FTL or Into the Breach.

Thank you for the heads up drmike :)
EDIT: Obviously thank you to tremere110 too, I forgot, sorry.

I read those posts already. I bought FTL a long time ago.
In any case I don't understand the logic behind it but I don't think I have to.
The situation is still the same, I pre-ordered at full price when I could have bought it with a 10% discount on the day of the release. Doesn't feel like a good way to operate to me, that's all.
It's also entirely possible it was not even intentional... who knows.

I wrote to the support a couple of days ago to ask for an explanation if they were willing to give me one, I didn't get a reply up to this point, unless the mail went lost.... everything is possible.

I suppose I'll try one more time next week and then simply give up, it's not the end of the world.

I got the same 10% offer after the launch.

Until Battletech I havent preordered a game for 13 years, but after this I am finally cured and wont preorder a game ever again.

I agree, especially considering preordering is in the end just an act of generosity toward the developer/publisher more than anything else.
It's rare to get something of value in return, and by just waiting you can always get that same game discounted at minimum, and more later on even bundled with all the DLCs, etc. etc.

I mentioned this too in the mail to the support.

Didn't get a reply yet.
well, every time any game is released the early adopters (who either preordered or bought the game early) are getting the worst possible deal. You are buying the game for highest price it will ever be at and on top of that in worst possible shape it'll be at. Releasing unfinished buggy versions is pretty much industry standard these days so vast majority of games desperately need at least those first few patches that are released shortly after game release. If you preorder or buy early, you are paying extra just to be a beta tester and to be able to very likely ruin your first playthrough by running into all kinds of problems.
In case anyone is interested, and to close this matter, I received this message today:

Hello,

Thank you for writing to us.

The offer to receive 10% off BATTLETECH was valid until April 26 6:00 PM UTC, so 48h after the release of the title. Users that have pre-ordered the game and were eligible for the discount, after reaching out to GOG Support within the duration of said offer, could have the game refunded so they could repurchase it at a lower price, receiving the pre-order bonus in the form of a code.

You have reached out to us and was offered the above mentioned workaround but we, unfortunately, did not receive a reply from you before the offer ended.

I apologize for any inconveniences caused by this offer.
I don't know why I got all the emails today in one batch, if this buffering was caused by my email server or theirs.
Anyway, the fact I had only 48 hours to ask to rectify the problem is utterly ridiculous.
They could have, and still could, simply give me that 10% back (4 dollars) in the GOG wallet and the problem would have been quickly solved with mutual satisfaction.
I would have thought they did the right thing and be happy, and they would have not gave me the money back but just some credit to spend here on GOG.
Still is not really about the money, it's about the way this has been managed.
I don't want to waste more time on this suggesting them what should be obvious, so I'll stop here, but now I love GOG a little less.
