I really want to buy this game and every time I start reading the reviews or forum posts I go through a weird acr. At first Ill see someone say its not as slow as it seems at first and theyre enjoying it more. Then Ill read that its killing peoples GPUs and needs patches to fix.

Think I'm gonna resist the urge to get it and just wait a few more months. Such a shame. Really wanted it to do well, but it seems like the developers took the piss.

The game isn't killing GPUs. If people's GPUs are being killed it is because either:
1) They already had a defective GPU to begin with
2) The player has improper cooling and player disabled the thermal safeguards on their GPU

Software cannot actually kill a GPU, unless that software was given admin rights and was specifically programmed to change clock/voltage settings on the GPU and disable the thermal safe guards.

The game doesn't feel slow to me at all, it has the right pacing.

Definitely wait. Even then it may not really be worth the buy. It really seems like it would take a really decent overhaul to fix the main issues with the game as it stands now.

I've got over 12 hours in and not one crash. Game did begin to show down after about 6 hours of game play. I'm running an all AMD set up. Most of the complaints I've seen have been for nVidia cards. Maybe wait for new drivers (if you're running nVidia) and for the upcoming patch.

Ain't had issues, but like fallout 2 the early game is slow. Gets more interesting after a while but early game is a slog. I had to turn it down to medium settings on my old 2014 desktop.

Mind you, Mechcommander 1 and 2 were more fun. But hey, I'll support the franchise as best as I can.

I've got nVidia and it works fine for me. It does not seem to like to run continuously for many hours, so after 3-4 hours I save, exit, and relaunch it. To me this seems like a problem not worth mentioning. I'm having a ball, playing the campaign. I'm really glad I backed this KS.

Same here, runs fine on my 960 and 1060 on both comps and Campaign is fun and brings more into it. Not playing skirmish yet, as I did enough in Backer Beta. Slow loading times I dont like but else at least I got sucked in the story ... just not tooo much time playing cause of work, so 3-4 hours a row is max I played in one turn so far.

Restarting my game. Turns out I read some guide and figured out what guts and tactics does. I think it helps. No wonder my first game was a slog, didn't have the benefit of hindsight nor an understanding of how I was warping my mechwarriors into useless damage sponges. Being able to take a beating, a useful skill for brawlers but not my playstyle.

I would also advise you to wait for them to roll out some fixes for this. I haven't had any GPU overheating problems, or game crashing after some twenty hours. I also don't mind the game being a little slower, as you're operating lumbering robots.

What I do mind is very, very poor optimization, long loading times, even on SSD, and in game camera forcing you to wait a lot. All this can be fixed, and I hope HBS will do it.

the first patch came out today. I have over 70 hours in game and love it. I have had a couple crashes but pretty sure it was old nvidia drivers.

Uninstalling the GOG Galaxy install that installs during the game install solves all that.

I have the game on Steam.

So far so good. No crashes and the Rock, paper, shotgun review was spot on. The tutorial and beginning is way too slow, but when you've played it once its much faster. Gonna restart my campaign for second time and go all the way through till the end.
