Can anyone get all 3 parts during the capture the Argo mission?

I have done the mission a few times, until i was successful in shooting off both legs while keeping the arms and complete torso in tact (one side torso had some damage). There were no ammo explosions and only 1 heat sink destroyed, yet when I got to the salvage screen there were only 2 parts available to salvage. *SIGH*

I was SO excited when I finally shot off both legs successfully like that too!
I am wondering if maybe a headshot would work? Take out the pilot? It is just a very long mission to keep trying over and over...
Hey!

Unfortunately the information you got was incorrect. As far as I know the rules for salvage are:
1 piece : CT destroyed
2 pieces : Legs destroyed
3 pieces: Pilot incapacitated while the condition for 1 piece and 2 pieces salvage haven't been fulfilled.

So if you want your 3 Quickdraw pieces you should
1. Hope for a lucky headshot kill
2. Try and use weapons who hit multiple times in the hope of getting a quick headshot, it won't kill the pilot, but that's one wound. A lot of missiles may cause a knockdown, that's a second wound. Then concentrate fire on one side torso, getting an ammo explosion is one wound, destroying the side torso another. If the enemy pilot is still alive and the enemy mech is not destroyed due to stray shots to the CT, destroy the other side torso for another wound, maybe an ammo explosion for one more. If the Quickdraw gets up before you manage that, never fear! Just shoot one leg off, netting you another immediate knockdown, for one more wound, and then work on the remaining side torso. At this point you may want to moderate your fire to avoid destroying the CT. If the enemy mechs has only its CT, Cockpit, and one leg left, then either bite the bullet and accept that 2 pieces are still pretty good and shoot off the other leg (be careful not to destroy the CT in the maneuver) or just refuse probabilities and precision strike the cockpit, hoping for a lucky headshot. Repeat until the pilot, or the 'mech is incapacitated.

Have fun.

Ps: To answer your other question, yes I got 3 pieces of the Quickdraw, but I got Medusa killed in the maneuver. Greed is good for you, but bad for your pilots.
I'm not that far along in the campaign, so I don't know. But do you only get one chance at a Quickdraw chassis?
Honestly you are better off with the Shadow Hawk pieces from the same mission. Quickdraw is okay but bottom of its weight class. Shadow Hawk is at the very top of the medium weight class and gets a melee damage bonus. Quickdraw is only 5 tons heavier but has worse initiative and is an easier target to hit.

It is also much easier to find another Shadow Hawk if you need another piece to complete your mech.

By the way I took out the pilot of the Quickdraw and still did not have all the parts available to take after the mission because the second leg was lost at the same time. I have received all 3 a few times in other missions but it is pretty fiddly trying to get it to work. I picked up a laserboat version of the Hunchback that way from a random side mission.

Enemy force composition is random, and there are plenty of mechs all across the missions. Chances are that you will encounter another one soon enough, or be able to buy the missing part from from the store.

As for getting the maximum mech parts per mission...

Due to the headshot injuries system being borderline broken, your best bet is to load up a mech with SRMs and machine guns, and do called shots on the left/right torso area. Chances are pretty good that you will kill the pilot without damaging the mech too severely.
Hence the randomness of enemy forces, I was forced to fight against Dragons, Catapults, Orions and Heavy Vehicles when I could only field a Lance of 3 medium Mechs and a single Dragon.

As time passed and I was able to get a Jeager... I only encountered Shadow Hawks and Thunderbolts.

Now I have Heavies and even an Assault mech.... and now only Mechs I encounter are many many many Quickdraws and Thunderbolts... took me Hours to get a Single Orion (rarely saw them spawning...) and even longer for a Black Knight.

Its frustrating, as I want more 75t mechs, and all I get are 65er and 70% of them are Quickdraws maybe 30% Thunderbolts.

After like 40+ Battles I only saw 2 Grasshoppers and maybe 5 Orion mechs.

I'm drowning in Orions. I think I have 5 regular ones, by now, and 2 V-Variants. Same with Thunderbolts, I've had several of the variant versions before getting the first "stock" one, and by now I could field a pure thunderbolt lance. :P

I've only seen a single Cataphract, ever. Urbanmechs are absent from missions, since the AI is unable to use them properly (at least this part ist supposed to get fixed). Black Knights also seem exceedingly rare, though admittingly, given the state of energy weapons, it's not that much of a loss. Catapult-Ks are also pretty sparse, by the time I got one I had 3 regular catapults.
I only encountered Catapult Ks and never even a single regular one.
Cataphract was only once there in a Priority mission.

I even tought it depends on the enemy Fraction you are fighting against.... but even Priates have better mechs the House warriors sometimes.

At least completed Mechs give a nice Bonus to Income. =)
I think that mechs have a rarity value associated with them to modify the chances of seeing a particular mech and variant.

Actually I do have the quickdraw, but I picked the pieces up at stores across the navigation map. My suggestion is don't follow the contracts they automatically give you. Go to the navigation map and travel around looking in various stores. I got out of the freeworld systems and went to the first major system that opened up and did contracts there for awhile. I got the entire quickdraw chassis after those visits. I never encountered another on the battlefield after that first battle where we get the dropship

I don't think it is possible to get them all in that one mission, but I could be wrong. Just be patient and you will come across the parts in a shop

I dont know why, but now I even saw a Zeus and another Cataphract with a Black Knight on Top.

Finally I get some heavy loadouts!

I believe that's the case, sometimes you get some hilariously rare situations.

I once had a King Crab spawn in a 2.5 skull battle mission, along with a single Firestarter supporting it.

I didn't think I had any hope with my low tonnage loadout and my own Firestarter. But the map had a lot of hills and the King Crab is ridiciously slow, so I just stayed out of LoS and ran my Firestarter in a circle around the Crab to draw his fire. My Dragon got wreaked, and the Firestarter got his legs and arms blown off by one volley, but my mediums were able to take it down with shots to the back.

Situations like that is why i'm loving this game, but they do need to do some tweaks as you see the same mech types way too often.

I was able to piece a Black Knight together yesterday. Their default load out is overheating low damage trash, but you can make them very good with some tweaks.

This is really strange. 2 skull mission!!. Assasination. Description point that heavy mech spoted with some support. 3 mins later that heavy target turned out it was a Spider! I was wtf? But this is nothing. then his support showed up that turns out to be 2 Locusts. Does this happened to somone else?

Enemy composition depends HEAVILY on where you are in the campaign. The mission texts are canned and rarely if ever reflect what you will be facing.

I had an "easy" post-game 3.5 Skull mission, and the OpFor consisted of 1 Thunderbolt, 2 Devastators, 1 LRM Carrier, 3 Quickdraws, 1 Dragon, and as the pièce de résistance, the assassination target in a King Crab. This is about the lowest skull rating I can get at this point in the game.

Midgame, this might have been a heavy and a lance of mediums at half-armor. Early in the game, you can easily get what you were describing.

I hope there's a way to mod the OpFor composition/skill level to be a bit more all over the place. By the time you can field assaults, everyone else seems to do so already, which really kills any sense of progression. If I was to take heavy losses and had to rebuild with a "lesser" lance, I'd be deeply and thorougly screwed, as 4 mediums will get butchered on an "easy" (haha) mission like the above.

I agree that the the huge number of assaults found in late game is disappointing. It also breaks with the lore that they should be exceptionally rare. I would rather face larger quantities of lower tier mechs instead for higher difficulty missions.

I know that it is moddable though. It is possible to remove triggers that increase the typical weight class at certain main story checkpoints. Not sure of the value to change right now. Would likely need to adjust typical weight classes seen and the variance in weight classes along with removing the triggers. I have not bothered to do so yet but probably will on my next play through. End game assault mech spam does not appeal to me.
