Hello again.
I have few dumb questions answer for wich can't be easily found in the FAQ.
I purchased the game with a season pass. That gave me access to the installer for the base game, installers for three major DLCs and a separate one for the Digital Deluxe Content. Each installer has coresponding serial number. Well, actually serial for Heavy Metal should appear some time later as some topics in this subforums state, but that's not important now.
As I have read already serials are for some 'Paradox account' which is required as some form of DRM at least for the Shadow Hawk DLC (fortunately I don't own the latter one).

So, to the questions:
1. Shall I be able to play the game at all if won't create any 'Paradox account'?
2. Shall I be able to use three major DLCs and Digital Deluxe Content if I won't create any 'Paradox account'?
3. What exactly shall I be missing if I won't create any 'Paradox account' if the answers for both questions above are positive?
4. Shall I be able to play the game or/and use three major DLCs without internet connection?

Thanks in advance.

Afaik the answer to 1,2,4 is yes. You will miss multiplayer (havent played it yet and you would need Galaxy, too), Paradox forum patches ;) and maybe some older skins for the kickstarter people. I am not sure how the shadowhawk DLC here is handled, got it as kickstarter reward.
you do get the keys when you buy from gog... they can only be seen in a web browser but you do get them
what you miss = nothing

why do you get Paradox keys = because that is the deal Gog made with them and the reason Paradox pushed for that is because they want to have their own servers for playing multi

Stellaris is the game Paradox is testing their servers on i.e, the game they fucked up sync to

Battletech [at this stage] does not need the Paradox server to work, which some people say is why it does in fact work and you can play all the battletech matches, badges etc without a Paradox account

you can, IF YOU WANT TO, make a Paradox account and if you do then that allows you to sync your game to their servers which would allow you make posts on their forum and ask their support staff questions... of course you also have to follow their rules if you do this but thats your choice

As topic, I linked, says you have to logon into your Paradox account, go to mech bay, select Shadow Hawk customization, enter a code there and wait for 5-10 minutes for new "skin" to appear. And you have to stay logged on into your account, because If you later log off, the "skin" will disappear.

Now I'm confused.
Without Paradox account I'm obviously do not have access to at least one of the DLCs, which was originally intended for kickstarter backers but being freely sold now. And, presumably, I do not have access to the multiplayer.
Those are thing which I'll be missing. Am I wrong?

kickstarter packs are not Gog... yes you had to log in everytime and yes many people told Paradox to shub that

on gog you can grab the same skin as a dlc for a few $ and then you don't need to be signed in... reguardless its just a different paint job on your starting mech so don't get stressed out about it

multiplayer with whom?
when you pay for the gog game you also get a Paradox key, which allows you to unlock the game i.e, the same as if you got the game from Paradox;
1, install the game on Galaxy
2, install the gog game with the off line installer
3 or install the Paradox version of the game

if your mates are on the Paradox servers = install the Paradox game to play them
Galaxy mates = gog galaxy
lan = whatever you like

I'm not stressed or whatever. Just want to clarify some moments for myself. It's a first time I have deal with games from Paradox. I point to this specific skin-DLC just because I read the following topic and found descirbed there sequence of actions strange. So the GOG version of that skin just installs over the game and just works without any activation, codes or accounts?

So, if I understand correctly, no codes and accounts are is reqiured to play multy over LAN with whatwer release of the game. And no codes are required to play multy over the Internet when all participants have game release from the same platform and a client for that platfrom.

What about the case when I have GOG release and my mate has Steam release? Either play via simulated LAN over VPN or play via Paradox servers with Paradox account, is that correct?

I last played Battletech Lan a bit over a year ago and it was all galaxy games i.e, yes it works and no you don't need have a Paradox account but I have not tested all other combinations like Paradox vs Gog

as far as i'm aware the only Paradox game that allows Steam Vs Gog multi is Stellaris... {i own Stellaris on Steam as well as Gog} I have played that as Gog vs Gog and Gog vs Steam and confirm it works well. the current issue of Gog games not syncing is because Paradox just put out their V2 launcher which moved gog players onto their main server i.e, now your hours played etc will not show up on Gog because the new launcher wasn't tested but its a small issue which doesn't affect playing the game

p.s, yes i have the skin dlc [from gog] and yes it works without signing into your Paradox account

Thank you both, but I still mark ussnorway's answer as a solution.
And happy New Year!

Nope, the model really differs, by details, it's not just the skin. The biggest detail is that on the Umbra the right shoulder missile valve is oppened.
yes the model 'looks' different... my point was it doesn't change how the game plays
