Guys, do you have any tips for a player like me who often struggles fighting against enemy units who would spam LRMs at my battlemechs? It has reached to a point where one more battle like this would bankrupt my mercenary company lol.

Thank you. :)

Some basic strategies:

* go max armour ... you can leave out a weapon and max your armour at once, it takes no time to do this
* move far to get more evades at beginning of game
* use wood to lessen damage
* Bulwark is your friend
* close in fast, if they have LRMs
* concentrate on one enemy, especially with aimed shot

Thanks! I'll try those strategies you've given me. I think I will also try picking missions that ask me to protect convoys so that I could improve my judgements in those situations. There has been way too many times that armored vehicles would bombard my mechs with LRMs.

One more question. I read somewhere that one of the ways to deal with the LRM spam by the enemies is by eliminating the other units that are within your range of visibility. Is this true? Haven't really tried it, but I take it that this method is going to cost me a lot since I would have to force my mechs to bear the incoming LRMs while trying to destroy the other units that have become the eyes for those other units positioned so far away with LRMs.

If you are in visible Range of one enemy, all other enemies can hit you if their weapons allow it. If you are in sensor range and get senor locked, the same happens. My tactics for LRM Carriers if possible. I have all jumpable mechs, so once you are in sensor range and one enemy closing in, i try to either gather points for aimed shots later by jumping a bit away and still staying in battle or if all are near, i close up to the vehicles and do aimed shots if possble to their sides or attack them from the side. Especially LRM and SRM carriers needto fall fast and have really low armour.
Often you can bypass enemies sideways out of line of sight a bit to close in for LRM Carriers, too.

Usually when choosing mechs, i prefer armour over extreme speed. With Jumpjets you are fast enough.

Till you have all medium mechs chosse low missions and for good late game setup always try to do some pirate missions, too not to go too far into - Rep with them, you will WANT Black Market access later.
Yes, against LRM it's armor or speed(jumpjets):

else you kill the spotters while suffering the missiles (armor), then in the end you go easily to the LRM

else you speed close to the LRM first, jumping from cover to cover then over the wall behind were the LRM is hidden
and LRM have usually thin armor and can't defend once reached closed

But moreover it depends the missions. Some missions can be though if we have not learnt the good strategies

Ah I see. Thanks for clearing it up for me. I've also just noticed that Yang had actually explained about the spotter thing when asked about missile weapons, therefore I thank you as well for indirectly reminding me the importance of looking back at the different dialogs that my crews would give me.

Not only that, your max armor and sprint or move far tips actually helped me bounce back from the brink of bankruptcy! Somehow I had this tendency to forget to sprint in order to gain evasion points, probably because I would always go for the default gait that the game automatically assigns you with; you move when engaged in combat, and sprint when no enemies are in sight. These evasion points really help me.

As for LRMs, I've almost equipped all my mechs with them now (I got quite addicted by them, ever since I raised the amount of armor I would consolidate my mechs with).

One question. will the late game become really hard without the black market? The reason I'm asking this is because as I play the campaign mode, I also try to incorporate my own story into the gameplay (so that I could basically roleplay as well), especially in terms of the decisions I make in the game like what kind of missions that I would take. To elucidate what I mean by this is that I made my character have this strong moral to use his mercenary service to only help any factions against pirates, protect any factions whose missions made them appear as if they were the ones who got attacked (this would include protecting the convoy missions), etc. So now, I take it you can already guess that my relationship with the pirates is already too grim. And I don't think I plan on improving this relationship with them in the future if I were to have my character adhere firmly to his belief.

How many battlemechs do you usually send to go after the enemy LRM carrier (if you were to ignore the spotters and go for the annoying prick directly)?

Play as you like, the "endgame" is doable without the blackmarket.
But will you keep standing against the corruption? :) those beautifull artefacts "fallen from the truck"?

About the LRM problem, or generally others, think like you are the enemy:
If you were, what would you hate meeting as opposition? then you should have the solution of your problem...
I know, if I have LRM, I hate armored enemies, I feel I do almost nothing as even while aiming the missiles seem hitting were the armor is the more heavy :) or I would hate surprise reinforcement drop near my LRM.

"I.. I will try my best!" declares my mech commander.

True haha. I would also hate it when the enemies are really unclustered to a point that no matter how well I try to hide my battlemechs with LRMs (although I did say that I equipped all my mechs with LRMs, some mechs I made to specialize in LRM attacks as their main), these mechs would found themselves located close to one or two of the enemies, since the positioning of these enemy mechs would make them seem to cover almost the entire width of the map lol.

The game is quite easy even with standard eq, if you use the right strategy for you. The heavy metal addon didin my opinion unbalance the lore and gave LOTS of lostech, so you have best possible mechst that usually are impossible to get for mercenaries. With the other eq it gets a piece of cake. You very easily get this Eq on Black Market.

I for myselt dont even use LRM, because they do too few damage for me, althought LRM are nice to get parts in the beginning. I usually like marauders with UAC5 or UAC2 and ER M-Lasers to Headshot enemies even at far range, Paired with some Atlas II you are invincible and every mission only takes few rounds.

Lots of good advice given already so guess will add a few points that may prove useful:
-Don't piss off the pirates, be friendly with them as cheap Blackmarket access lets you cheese the game with easy access to lostech including SLDF Royal Battlemechs (basically best Mechs in the game).
-The Marauder also lets you cheese the game due to a damage reduction bonus for your Lance as well as the Mech having a called shot bonus that lets you headshot galore.

That's just for base game mind you. If you think the above is a hefty slice of cheese then Heavy Metal DLC is a whole wheel of dairy due to it actually adding defacto Clan Tech meaning the game becomes trivial.
Thank you guys for all your tips!

Things I've learned:
- Always stack up evasion points
- When faced against enemies with LRMs, you either kill the spotters, or close in to the LRM units as fast as possible while relying on heavy armor, or simply using jumpjets to quickly close the distance between your battlemech and the enemy LRM unit
- Increase the amount of armor you put on your battlemechs. Weapons can come later
- Try befriending the pirates will grant you access to the black market, which may help ease the struggle during the late game (you can however, still play through the campaign without the help of the black market)
- Adaptation is key

Ah I see. Thanks for letting me know your opinion regarding the Heavy Metal DLC. I didn't expect the DLC to have such an impact on the lore. I'm actually also trying to learn more about the universe, through reading its books, although by books, I mean I've only started reading one, which is the first book of the Warrior trilogy by Michael A. Stockpole. I'm looking forward to seeing some exciting stuff from the lore!

Thanks for the info! Currently, I have no plans in purchasing any of the DLCs, since I've discovered that some of the major mods that the game has actually provides you with new mechs as well as new mech variants. And I also noticed that your sentiment about the Heavy Metal DLC is actually shared with many people in the community (at least that've what I've found so far), on how the Clan Tech (I take it this includes the new mechs) make the game easier due to the overall strengths of the new mechs.

And I plan on trying out the BattleTech Advanced 3062 once I'm finished with the campaign. And my reason for choosing this mod over RogueTech is simply due to the polish that the former has haha. I know this is rather irrational of me, since I believe that RogueTech offers more in terms of gameplay, but I just can't stand looking at how some portraits just look so different in terms of style with the rest. And I think BattleTech Advanced 3062 does this better than RogueTech. But that's just my opinion, no matter how childish it is lol.

So, yeah. I appreciate all the time you guys have put in lending this new player a hand! Thank you! :)

Yeah mods are pretty good for this.
Roguetech can also be a bit overwhelming for some due to what it throws at you and if you are looking to pick your first Battletech mod is not one I'd recommend.
Some mods require DLC to access full content but you can survive without them.
Flashpoints do also add some endgame content but again mods can fix that.

Any other questions just ask.
