The Battle Isle Platinum page that GOG has states that it has multiplayer.

Kind of wish that GOG elaborated on the multiplayer though, since the only one that comes close to having multiplayer on a lan is battle isle 3 and the manual states it uses Novell or Windows for the network and all computers must have access to the common network drive. When I try to launch a network game I get a Network error Prompt: Network mode not correctly set. Consult your manual to start the network setup in the program group.

Consulting the manual it states that you setup a network game using the Network Setup program, which can be started via the Battle Isle 3 program group..... only that program does not exist.

Is there another way to setup a network game?

I believe there was a way to play by email, but you'd have to do a search on that.

I have the same problem here, there is no network setup file.

The Network Setup program can be found at BI3/SDI/DATA/SDIDIR.EXE. I first selected a newly created directory but that still didn't work. After changing the selection to BI3/SDI I'm able to start and call up network games.

Just add a writable network share into your "C:\Windows\SDI.INI" at the key REMOTEPATH in the section [ADVANCED] on both computers so they find each others game files.

Yyou have to open Notepad with admin rights to edit ""C:\Windows\SDI.INI".

e.g.:

[ADVANCED]
FIRSTTIME=NO
AVICHIP=NO
MIDI=STANDARD
FIGHT_VOLUME=7
VIDEO_VOLUME=7
CONSOLE_VOLUME=7
ONLINEHELP=YES
REMOTEPATH=\\nas\Upload\bi3

You can also use a local folder but then you have to mail/send/copy the game file every turn to the other player.

When you start playing with a race you have to choose a "code word" which practically is the password to play with this race. So your opponent cant make moves with your units without knowing the password. :-)
