voodoo47: yeah. here is the orig 1.52 exe, and here the hexedited one (only sound.dll hexedited in).

extract the patched one including the loader into your incubation folder, run Wilderness_sw.exe, and you should have the patched version with music. but, as I said, the music wont work with the 3dfx launcher (Wilderness.exe), and the orig GOG shortcuts will not work.
yupp, can confirm the behaviour. the wilderness mission are not working with the "launcher -addon" link

made a new support ticket. let's hope I can get someone from GOG to look at this, I'm almost sure this would be quite an easy fix for anyone who knows how to apply the GOG fix.

Guys, as an owner of BI: Platinum on GoG and a real fan of Incubation, I was following this thread for some time.
Seeing that the game is still not fixed and witnessing voodoo47's epic struggle, I've decided to help a bit.

To clarify what's wrong with the GoG version (based on infamous BluByte's BI:Platinum release) I prepared a step-by-step explanation of what happens to the gamefiles when going from Incubation 1.0 to Incubation: WM 1.52e.

You can grab all patches either on Patches Scrolls or IDA

1) Installing Incubation from CD.

Files: 1243

Check 1.0.sfv for CRCs.

2) Patching the game to 1.02e (Incubation patch 1.2 (english))

Info about the patch (taken from IDA):

- Lobby technology is now supported (making it Mplayer-ready)

- Minor problem with the use of stimulants has been fixed
- The skill points displayed in the Upgrade Menu for the explosion pack has been corrected
- The rest-function problem in connection with Bratt/commander has been eliminated
- The ending graphics during the exit sequence has been reworked (3Dfx)
- The mission briefing for Halls #2 has been edited
- The problem with the bayonet has been repaired
- A rare bug in the last level has been corrected through the use of an update to the 3D engine
- PBM passwords are now encoded (and prior saved games can still be used)
- The jetpack points cheat in the Upgrade Menu has been eliminated

4) Installing Incubation: WR (which brings the game to 1.50e)

Beware!

Both 1.02e and 1.03e updates seem to be indeed included (as mentioned in patch notes above). (Almost) all CRCs of files modified by either 1.02e or 1.03e match with 1.50e. With an exception of:

- Incubation.exe (no surprise - new executable)
- Data\Version.gcl (no surprise - has new version info)
- Data\Txt\English\Briefing\_C_130.txt (quite a surprise, actually! I: WR uses wrong file (CRC: A56DD6B2 - matches the one from 1.0) - epic fail on BlueByte's part. It should be replaced with the one from 1.02e (CRC: E13E934C).)

How do I know which one is correct, and which one is broken? Well, simply backup _C_100.txt and rename _C_130.txt to _C_100.txt, launch 1st mission of original game and you will get either...

a1.jpg (CRC: E13E934C - correct)

a2.jpg (CRC: A56DD6B2 - broken)

- Data\Txt\English\Gui\Txtmod_h.lcl (surprise, but it's a brand new file: its size and CRC differs from 1.0 / 1.02e / 1.03e - it's all good I guess)

Point #1 can be solved rather easily... You can find a special cracked update at IDA (Wilderness.zip).
18 files included in ITWMv152eFULL.zip are mostly useless:

But there is one very interesting file in this zip: Wilderness.exe. This is special crack/loader, which removes copy protection from iDesigner.exe and Incubation.exe (when run for the 1st time). It will also launch WM even when no CD is present in drive (if you launch the game without CD, using Incubation.exe, original Incubation: BIPF will run). If you use CDs (as you should, to have CD-Audio), correct game will launch automatically, depending on CD inserted (original / WM). Just use Autorun.exe or Incubation.exe.

To make your life easier, I've compared both original and cracked versions of Incubation.exe. There are only 9 differences:

Current Incubation.exe from GoG version is useless: it has copy protection removed, but it's 1.50e version (1.0 MB), not the one we need - 1.52e (0,9 MB).

I hope that at least one person will read this... :(

@voodoo47: good work with your system shock 2 patch. Surprisingly the "raven" keeps pumping out new builds, is there a guess what base of source code he is using? The infamous "dreamcast source code found in a bag" stuff? ;c)

the (SS2) patch is not "mine", there are more people working on it, and even more that have provided knowledge or previous fixes (hence the name "Shock Community Patch", or SCP).

as for the source code, I'm not a programmer, so no idea if there is a way to tell.
