vv221: Hello fellow Linux gamers!

Here you’ll find scripts allowing you to build packages for Debian, Arch Linux and any derivative (Ubuntu, Manjaro, Linux Mint, etc.) from your GOG installers for Bastion.
Thank you! I had the humble version and it refused to install. Your scripts worked and finally let me install and play Bastion.

Any chance you could do something similar for other Humble games, like Bleed? I can't get that one to install either.

We actually already support quite a lot of Humble Bundle games, I made a list since our current search engine is a bit poor: (to be continued in a next post, the forum engine set a limit to post length)

Continuation of the list of our currently supported Humble Bundle games: As for Bleed, I opened a request in our issues tracker: New game: Bleed
I do not own this game (yet), but maybe one of our contributors does have access to its Humble Bundle version and could add its support to our collection.

This should help. Bleed and Bleed 2 are now available for free from itch.io:

Bleed
https://bootdiskrevolution.itch.io/bleed

Bleed 2
https://bootdiskrevolution.itch.io/bleed-2

The bin installer refuses to run on 64-bit linux, however it says it supports 32 and 64 bit on the game pages. I guess the installer is just 32-bit, which is causing the problem. That seemed to be the problem with Bastion too.

Thanks for the tip, I got both games and am planning to work on them soon ;)

We have scripts for Bleed and Bleed 2 ready to be tested:
* New game: Bleed
* New game: Bleed 2

Here are direct download links to get the scripts:
* play-bleed-1.sh
* play-bleed-2.sh

Your feedback would be welcome of course ;)

Hello,

Thanks. I just tried them out.

Bleed:
Bleed worked well as long as I copied over the libplayit2.sh file mentioned on the Bastion page and then I had to run this command in the command prompt from the directory with the files:

sh ./play-bleed-1.sh

It created the deb files necessary and they installed correctly (at least the data and 64-bit deb files installed. I can't test the 32-bit version.

Bleed 2:
Bleed 2 would not extract. I made sure to copy over the libplayit2.sh file into the directory with the Bleed 2 files from itch.io. However, when I run the command sh ./play-bleed2.sh, I get this info and an error:

sh ./play-bleed-2.sh
Using bleed2-02112018-bin
Checking integrity of bleed2-02112018-bin OK
Extracting data from bleed2-02112018-bin OK

I even redownloaded Bleed 2 to see if there may have been an issue with the file.

The error is on our side, here is a fixed version: play-bleed-2.sh

Thanks for the feedback ;)

By the way, to help in debugging the temporary files are not deleted in case of error. You can recover some storage space by deleting /tmp/play.it.

Thanks again. I just got Mable and The Wood free here at GOG (it's on giveaway).

I installed it for linux, but it won't run. When I try to run it in the command prompt to see what's the matter, I get these errors:

sh ./start.sh
./start.sh: 6: ./start.sh: Bad substitution
./start.sh: 8: ./start.sh: source: not found
./start.sh: 11: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 12: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 13: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 31: ./start.sh: define_option: not found
./start.sh: 34: ./start.sh: standard_options: not found

Any idea what the problem is? Is this another issue of a developer only releasing a 32-bit version?

When I go into the game subdirectory and try to run the Mable_PC executable, nothing happens. If I try to run it in a command prompt, it says:

command not found
avatar
hudfreegamer: sh ./start.sh
./start.sh: 6: ./start.sh: Bad substitution
./start.sh: 8: ./start.sh: source: not found
./start.sh: 11: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 12: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 13: ./start.sh: get_gameinfo: not found
./start.sh: 31: ./start.sh: define_option: not found
./start.sh: 34: ./start.sh: standard_options: not found
That's not how you should run the script files. Better to make it executable, if needed, and run:
$ ./start.sh
Your problem here, presumably, is that it's a BASH script not a Bourne shell or DASH script. E.G.
$ bash start.sh
would also work in this case.

Using either of those gives me the error:

command not found

Again, I'm doing that from inside the directory where the script is.

The problem isn't the syntax though. The installer added a shortcut to my main system menu, but that doesn't work. I can also use a file browser and click on the start.sh or Mable_PC and have the file manager make it executable, but in any case (using the menu shortcut, file browser to make it executable, or command prompt), nothing makes the game run.

I figure it's one of two things:
1. either the game doesn't support 64-bit but the installer does.
2. I'm using Debian 9.2, which is roughly Ubuntu version 17.1.

The game page says it requires:
Ubuntu 16.04, 18.04 or later

I've found that any game that requires Ubuntu will run just fine on Debian (since Ubuntu is based on Debian), but in this case the version numbering is confusing.

It would be like a windows game saying "Works with windows 7 and windows 10, but not windows 8".

I suppose this is one of those cases where I'll have to force myself to use my windows pc. I was just hoping to add more games to my linux collection.

The "command not found" message is indeed the kind of error you can get when trying to run a 32-bit binary on a 64-bit only system.

I am going to have a look at Mable and The Wood, and see if I can add its support to ./play.it easily.
You can follow activity on this issue to see when I make progress on this front: New game: Mable and the Wood
