Too few start-up options--only mountains and valleys--both are remarkably similar. People die even whe tnere is food and shelter. Game "greya our" during spring and summer--most annoyinf. The developers do not really want to give you a chance to win this game, so it becomes an exercise in futiluty--and a waste of merney..
More startup options are available if you download the Colonial Charter mod. It adds a lot more to the game.

People do not die if there's food and shelter, you've probably just got it wrong. EDIT: except of old age or illness.

no idea what "greya our" means.

Semi-off-topic, but is there even a way to download the most recent versions of CC outside of Steam Workshop? I remember looking into the mod something like a year ago, but I could only find freely-downloadable versions that were a year or more out of date, while the latest versions, as far as I could find at the time, were only downloadable via Steam. Even if I already had a Steam account and had the client installed (I didn't and don't), and even if it was one of those titles where you could use some third-party tool to download Workshop mods for non-Steam use (no idea), that'd still be pretty shitty of the mod developers to have gone Steam-exclusive, considering the base game's been available DRM-free on GOG since its release.

Thanks, but let me reiterate, with emphasis:

I see only two versions of CC available on Nexus, and they're both from 2015. Last I checked, the mod was still being developed; even if that's no longer true, I know there are versions two or three years newer than that. So my question still stands.

(I'd apologize to the OP for the derail, but I'd imagine this was just a one-off post to get his disgruntlement out of his system. :P )

Thank you. :)

...

...And now I'm a bit mad that I just wasted, like, five minutes looking around first that page, then the linked Steam page, then back to the Black Liquid site for more increasingly irritated looking for the download button mentioned thereon -- before I finally found the the small, pale gray letters that told me why I couldn't find the blasted button.
Hope their mod's UI is better thought-out than that. =P
