Just wondering, since it's been weeks since anyone's posted here!

It's my "go to" game on drinking night, after I finish playing my guitar. Kick back, crank up some tunes, and try not to get anybody killed. I start on "hard" and I have yet to make it past a few years, but I don't mind. Some day I'll find a good strategy. I enjoy the experimentation.

I do have to admit that after a week or so of being absolutely engrossed in the game I reached a point where I felt I 'done' as much as I wanted to. It was probably not long after I got the mountain men achievement from a hard start - the challenge of building a sustainable village was gone, and I couldn't really think of any other challenges I wanted to do. The other achievements felt a bit boring to me - build x buildings, have y resources, don't build z and so on.

I'll no doubt return to Banished once the dev releases the mod kit, or when he fixes the laborer AI issues in very large towns - either way there will be new stuff I want to do.

My longterm wish would be turning this somewhat more in the Tropico direction. This could be tied to the settlement reaching a certain size - people would demand increased public services, a monetary economy would be introduced, tax, politics, laws, elections, relations to foreign lands could be formed...

The games has alot of potential. It's just too sandbox-like still

I'm enjoying the game still, but I do wish there were a bit more personality to the towns and the people living in them. It'll be interesting to see what modders can do, and that's what I'm waiting for.

Silence means people are managing their towns and haven't got time to type or chat ;)


Though I must admit I'm hoping to see an expansion or new patch with new content released - I really think they can bulk the game up visually a lot even just by adding a few resource types and some new building designs and types.

Just got the game and started a town on hard. On year 18 and have at least 20 people in the graveyard. Like the game, but I cannot get livestock from traders for the life of me. All I got is Corn and Squash. The first year I went from relying on dwindling-amounts of food from hunters to crops I had a few starve, then realize in a few game years how to make farming during season a main focus for a lot of my workers now. By year 20 my whole town ran out of tools. Completely. Turns out that a single blacksmith isn't enough for a town of 70. Plus I made the mistake of upgrading 6 houses into stone houses, running out of iron and stone and leaving my town pretty much useless at work.

Is the thrill gone? Not for me, I waited until GOG got that recent patch before playing. I think most people are just busy playing.

Well, yeah, it's really not a "playing" game, more like a "management" sim. I haven't touched it in a while, but I still love it and will get going again after getting other games out of my system.

Still playing Banished. Have yet to master it, so it still has plenty of challenge. I'm just waiting to see where the next patch or two goes. I'd like to see more map generator choice as well try out some mods.

Played half the night yesterday, so I guess the itch is back. I tried out some mods, and that was a good move. However, today I read that if you're using mods, any mods, the achievements won't unlock. I usually hate achivements, but they are pretty well-done in Banished, so I wanted to have a go at some of them at least, as they flow more naturally into the game anyway.

That notwithstanding, the game is still fun, and I hope it will get yet more diverse as people learn more about modding and more 'big' mods get out. Most seem to be on the experimental / beta stage right now.

Nope my sons and I play on 3 separate machines. We have a competition to see after so many hours who has survived the best. Adding some of the new mods that are out keep this game fresh and fun. The reason most folks aren't posting is because this game is sooooo addictive.

You might as well have put "Is the thrill gone yet?" in the subject line because it keeps popping back to the top of the list anytime someone replies weeks or months later.

You know, this is the first time I got a notification of a post lately; I hadn't even seen the other ones. I had no idea it was still getting posts occasionally.

But hey, I've got the whole evening ahead of me, and beer and music, so I think I just may fire it up again.

Still playing from time to time here. It's a fantastic little game.

I just picked this game up and started running it, and I have to say that it feels a lot like Babbie's First Dwarf Fortress. The key to keeping DF interesting is setting your own goals and restrictions, like never allowing immigrants in, or only building on the surface, or only using equipment harvested from Elves, or something like that. If the game gets old and you want to keep playing, then decide you, say, won't build a town using houses and rely on nomads and boarding houses (still new to this game. I have no clue if that is possible).
