Kingoftherings: vbigiani, I'm looking at the download page for the widescreen mod, and I'm wondering what the Linux download does exactly.

I use Linux primarily and since the Gog version is for Windows, which installer would I use? I'm assuming there was a way to run BG on Linux based on the fact there is a Linux version of your mod.

vbigiani: BG (and BG2..) work pretty well with Wine under Linux. The mod's readme contains details on how to install the mod on Linux.
So I don't need a Linux version of the game? Cool. :P
I don't think there ever was one anyway.

Yeah last time I tried them the IE games worked fine under WINE.

On a related note, there is an open-source project to recreate the Infinity Engine called GemRB. It's active, and the last time I checked BG2 was completable with bugs.
EDIT: Scratch the below. As reported earlier, the top-lefting only occurs on the main menu and videos - the game itself is fine. And looks lovely in 1200*800!

I've run the Widescreen patch on the standard GOG installer. Everything looks to have gone OK, but when I launch the game in 1200*800 everything is shunted to the top-left corner. Looks to me like the main window is running in 1200*800 but the game is fixed in its native resolution.

Any ideas what's wrong?

Totally digging the efforts here guys, thanks for helping :)

Monstrooooo:
Yep and remember that will be fixed once the GUI mod is updated for compatibility.
Anyone tried and got this to work on a netbook? Mine runs at 1024x600, which doesn't work... I'm playing around with some other res. but so far unsuccessful.

What are the prerequisites for picking a resolution? Netbooks use an odd aspect ratio

EDIT:
so I've tired 1024x600, 900x540, 800x600 and they either totally don't work, or correctly box the menu into the top right, but then crash when the loading screen hits about 10%
Went back to 640x480, the loading screen is back to normal, but it still crashes... What now?

Back up your save folder and reinstall the game? The high-res patch worked fine for me but I could not for the life of me get the GUI mod to work, even with what was suggested here.
A message for anyone who's giving his contribute to this "widescreen matter": thank you.
You're making me feel sooo proud of being part of gog community.
Really, thanks for your efforts.
They're much appreciated.

We're waiting on it to be updated first. It's not currently compatible with GOG's version, but it's expected the modder will have it done soon.

this is how I made it work on Windows XP

> patched with the TOSC international patch' from Bioware
http://www.bioware.com/games/tales_sword_coast/support/patches/

> Install Widescreen Mod
http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/

> Desktop > Display Properties > Trobleshoot > Hardware Acceleration to 3rd level (fixes the glitches, fog, cursor etc problems)

works like a charm :)

Everything installed fine, or so I think, except when I launch the game I get a "Insert Disc 6 into D:"

Apologies if this has already been covered, it's been a rough day. :)

Edit: EasyTuTu and Gibberlings Mod
