It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

wolfen: I would imagine so. Integrated graphics chips generally suck (in my opinion). I bet youll do better with your new card. Though im suspecting, this is just the way of the beast. Some times these older games just CRAWL at modern resolutions.
Yeah, I think the latter is more likely since I can run recent but not too intensive games (Beat Hazard for example) at ~25fps. Hopefully a newer version of the patch improves performance.

IE Widescreen mod (May not work directly on standard BG1, hence my Tutu suggestion)
http://www.gibberlings3.net/widescreen/
Works great, those mods + TutuGUI (Here) are how I last played through BG1.
Hey so I downloaded EasyTutu and it says the exe for Balur's Gate 2 is not correct. any way around this? I have downloaded the latest patch from Bioware's website and it says it's already installed.

Did you mean that EasyTuTu said that the exe for BG1 is not correct? If your executable for BG2 is incorrect, it has nothing to do with the GOG version of BG1. TuTu requires that BG2 be installed for the mod to work (you are essentially combining BG1 with the BG2 engine, after all). If you already knew all that, then check that you downloaded the correct EasyTuTu installer (there is one for BG2-SoA and another one for BG2-ToB).

chautemoc: 1280x800 is better, oops. Still too slow for me though. I'm running on integrated video until I get my video card replaced next week -- would that matter? The other hardware is much more powerful than the integrated video.
Edit: I get 30fps at 640x480, 15fps at 1280x800. :(
I don't think BG1 even uses hardware acceleration. That was added in the BG2/IWD revision. BG1 is pure software, hence the slowdown when the BG1 IE version is stretched to sizes it was never intended for.

Yeah that explains it. Software render can be very slow at modern res for them older games. Should of known better myself that its sofware rendering. =\
Once again, thanks for that people.
Guess we'll have to wait for BG2 to get here to really get anything done.
I have bad fps when i patch the game to a different resolution.
I really don't want a bigger resolution, only a way to see correct aspect ratio on my widescreen monitor, and full screen

I have try to set up a resolution 900 x 600 (3:2 aspect ratio) but is not working in a real fullscreen mode because i see the game in the upper corner, like as in a windowed mode.

I want ask if there is a way to improve fps or there is a way to set a wide resolution near the original one

(sorry for my english is not my native language)
Wondering if anybody has a tip for me.

I successfully installed the Big World mod using this GOG version of BG1 and my original BG2 & ToB CDs.

Everything works, except when I start the game it insists I have the ToB CD in my D:\ drive, problem being that my DVD-ROM drive is E:\.

It works fine if I reassign my drive letters so the disc is indeed in D:\, but that of course will mess up my other apps that are looking for a disc in E:\. Anybody know where I change the drive letter that it looks for the CD in?

Thanks

1280x800 is the lowest widescreen resolution you can use on a 16:10 monitor. Unfortunately fps is still low.
The upper corner thing should only happen for the intro videos and menus. It will be fixed once the GUI mod is updated.

---

Noticed I'm getting this message: "ERROR: BIGG [C:\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Baldur's Gate\ /DATA/AREA110A.BIG] has file entries 0--14, cannot extract file at entry 15 (this BIFF and your KEY file don't match"

Perhaps this is causing performance issues...?

The troubleshooter says I need to do a full install, but this being the GOG version, isn't possible. Ideas?

This mod is a godsend! I played the game for about an hour and was a bit disappointed with how grainy and hard on the eyes it was, especially the text, until I installed this mod. It makes a huge difference, especially on a big screen.

Thanks a lot!
If you are getting awful framerates with the widesceen mod, turn off DirectDraw Acceleration in DXDIAG as per this forum post: Icewind Dale FPS Advice
You may end up with a bit of screen tear at higher framerates, but its worth it.

I don't know if you meant that for just this game but in general that's not true.
I made a custom resolution in the nvidia control panel of 900x600 that I used for Fallout 2. Native resolution is 1920x1200 for my Sony monitor.

edit: typo, I meant to write 960x600. 900x600 isn't 16:10, it's 3:2.

I tried going 1024x640 and all I got was messed up graphics. I saw that post and switched to 1280x800 and everything is fine.

I hope you weren't trying 900x600 based on what I said. I made a mistake. It's supposed to be 960x600.
But I'm glad 1280x800 worked. It's definitely one of the standard resolutions.
