I'm pretty sure the Horrors are tied to traps that can be disarmed, and you should have magical arrows/bolts/bullets by that point in the game. Davaeorn is nothing compared to.... well, almost every single mage or lich you face in BG2. As for cheapest boss, I'd say either the Final or Bonus Boss of ToB; both are immune to time stop (meaning that casting it just gives them plenty of time to wail on your party while you can do nothing), they have an obscene amount of hitpoints, and they hit like mack trucks being flung by a tsunami.
Draconis. He's much harder than his dad, and depending on your build he's trickier than Demogorgon. Because he transforms in the middle of the fight, you get a hard wizard-lich fight, then he wipes all of his debuffs and you get a hard dragon fight. Plus he endlessly spawns souped-up Invisible Stalkers. And since his second half is the harder part of his fight, it's harder to abuse triggers, contingencies,Time Stop, and thief traps than it is with single-kill bosses.

He's definitely not the HARDEST boss in the series, but I'd say he is the cheapest.

(As for Demogorgon, he's immune to time stop but his buddies aren't. With Protection from Magical Weapons, you can actually spend the entire time with him smacking you harmlessly. If you put three Pierce Shields in a Chain Contingency, and load up on spike traps, he can actually go down extremely quickly. But I usually don't actually fight him anyway.)
Abazigal, because as soon as he dies it goes to a cut-scene without pausing the game, during which my main character always gets killed by his minions.

But then, that might not have been what the OP meant :P

Hmmm, of all the boss battles in the vanilla trilogy, I always found the last battle of BG1 to be the most difficult. Sarevok is no slouch himself and has a few nasty followers. Irenicus was pretty easy without ToB installed, and laughably simple with it. Last time I played through the whole thing, the Demilich and the Demogorgon were both solo'ed by Korgan, who sometimes felt like a cheat code himself.

I guess that mainly leaves The Five at the end of Ascension. Most of Ascension I rocketed through, but that last fight at the end was brutal.

Demogorgon may be immune to Time Stop spell, but he is not immune to Time Stop cast via the "Cast a double-length Time Stop and Improved Alacrity on the Caster" ability from the Wish spell.

Put a quicksave in before you talk to him. Then if you're unlucky enough to not get that option when casting Wish (usually the game gives you that wish in such "HOLY SHIT" circumstances as facing the Demogorgon, but not always) just reload the quicksave.

Now THAT is cheap.

If you put the line:
Force Dialog Pause=1
under the [Game Options] section of baldur.ini, it will pause the game during ALL dialog, not just "important" dialog. That should fix your problem, and it's really useful for exactly the reason you described. With that option off, that sort of thing happens all the time. It works for both BG1 and BG2, too.

Davaeorn - agreed.

I played BG1 solo, with no team, only one bard and that bastard was nightmare for me. That was the moment I was thinking about uninstal this game :)
Davaeorn's teleporting around annoyed the hell out of me.

In the end he killed himself by casting a lightning bolt indoors and not stepping out of it's way when it ricocheted back and forth.
Spoilers.

Irenicus. Not because he is particularly cheap when you fight him, but the whole getting dragged down to Hell with him is kind of a downer. I mean, just die already!
