Hello,

For decades i've been trying to get a game going with essential mods, but nothing more. No extra npc's etc ...
I would like to just restore cut content, banter packs, flirt packs, fixes and QoL mods (stacking items)

But each time i start i get overwhelmed and start adding too much.

2 Years ago i finally made a correct selection and i tought i saved it. In the mean time i moved that install multiple times.

Today i tried continuing my game but i started noticing some mods were active while other weren't (for example Lucy The Wyvern mod).

So now i'm wondering if there is a way for me to see what mods are finally installed ?
I got plenty of weido setup files and folders for various mods, but not all are installed i think.

Any way to verify what is active and what not ?

Running a setup again doesnt seem to recognise it's installed, so it doesnt offer an "uninstall" for example when it's already installed.

Sigh.... will i ever get started with this game lol.

It took me 10 YEARS to finish Baldur's gate 1 just because i kept restarting, reinstalling, adding mods ...

To clarify: do you only have a saved game to work with now? Or do you have a complete Baldur's Gate install folder that was previously modded?

If the only thing you have to work from is an old saved game, I don't believe there is a way to verify which mods were used for that saved game.

If you have a complete installation folder, there should be a file in there called WEIDU.LOG which lists each of the mods installed, and which options from each were selected.

Thnx for the reply, i did still have my complete install folder and i did find the weidu.log file.
Seems i only installed the BG2 fixpack.

Is it ok to add a few mods like the flirtpacks, banterpacks, unfinished Business on an existing savegame ?

these are the mods i installed now on an exisiting save : (everything after the BG2_Tweaks)

As a general rule of thumb:

- Any mods which add/change/delete any sort of text (dialog, names, descriptions, etc., etc.) have a fairly high probability of borking up an existing saved game. (And the overwhelming majority of mods will change some sort of text in some way.)

- Any mods which only change "numbers" (stats, damage, etc.) can be applied "in-flight" to an existing saved game as long as you haven't encountered whatever it is you're modifying yet. For example, if you start a new game and then -- before leaving Candlekeep -- you apply a mod which changes Jaheira's attributes and weapon proficiencies, that should (...usually...) work since you haven't entered the map where you first encounter Jaheira. (Keep in mind there are VERY few mods which ONLY change the raw, behind-the-scenes numbers.)

- There are some exceptions to this, but in general the safest bet is: don't mod your install after you've started a game. Or put another way: when you mod your install, start a new game.

Once you've got a "golden" installation with all the mods setup exactly how you like, make a backup copy of your game folder. If you ever have to reinstall the game from scratch later, there is a fair chance that your old saved games won't work -- even if you use the same mods. It sounds like you've done that, so you should be able to restore that install folder, copy any old saved games from that install back, and carry on without issue. But any further mod changes will probably require a new game.
