I have played around with some of The classes in BG and Have found The Cleric/Fighter to be the best one So i was wondering what other people think.
The problem with Cleric/Fighter is the piss poor choice of weaponry. With the +2 hammer available quite early in BG1 this isn't such a problem, particularly with all of the skeletons that abound, but if you import your character into BG2, then this will be quite a drawback if you want your C/F in the front line... until you can get Cromm Faeyr, that is. What do you do until then? You're stuck with generic +1 weapons at best, until you can afford to splash out at the Adventurer's Mart.

I think you're forgetting about the Flail of Ages - you can go get it as soon as you hit Chapter 2, and as a +3 weapon, it'll easily last you until ToB when you can upgrade it to a +5. Dual-wielding it with Crom Faeyr just makes it even better. :)

Yikes, how could I have forgotten the FoA!? Absolutely right, of course. :)
What qualifies something as the best?

How easy it is to play from the get-go?

How strong they become?

If they are soloable?

Would a max level (with the level cap) Cleric/Fight beat a max level Mage?

Yea and it amazes me how expensive +1's are

Personally, if I was going to take a Priest/Warrior, I'd take the Cleric/RANGER, not a Cleric/Fighter.

As a Ranger, you get extra spells above and beyond those you get from your Cleric side, as well as access to the Druid specific spells - a pretty big deal. Iron Skins alone is a very nice buff....

You get to use the same weapons as a Cl/Ftr, the same armor and you have access to all of the abilities of a Cl/Ftr, but you also get all of the abilities of a Ranger as well, such as Stealth, among others.

As long as one is content with a Good alignment, there is no reason I can see to choose Cl/Ftr over the Cl/Rgr...
I heard great things about the Berserker Cleric if you are planning to play through BG1 and BG2. However I have not tried it. I have started a game with a blunt-weapon wielding Fighter, but I am very slow at playing through.
Anything crossed with Fighter is awesome. I'm personally a huge fan of the Fighter/Mage multi-class option.

Hmm, I'll Consider the Cleric/ranger. It's Getting really annoying looking for plate Armour

lol I was thinking about the Fighter/Mage but Then i learned a mage can't cast spells with Armour. And it would be Dangerous to have no Armour at all.

This is only true at very low levels. By the time you get 2nd level spells (mirror image = awesome), the opposite is true and the Fighter/Mage is actually the best tank in the game so long as he's still got spell slots. And once he's out of spell slots, you can just wear armor for the rest of the day.

Furthermore, even if you can't wear conventional armor, you can still cast the mage armor spell or wear magic bracers that provide an armor bonus. This is a restriction that looks steep on paper, but in practice is utterly inconsequential.
It's very difficult to define a "best" class. If you are talking about role-playing then there is none but if you are talking about power-gaming I'd say that FMT is quite powerful, if not the most powerful.
I like to change depending on what role I wish to fill. I like my Fighter for front row, or a Wizard for back row. Control and support are always rangers. I think there is no truly best class, as everyone has their favorites.

Exactly. My favorite class to play is the Blade - but that certainly wouldn't be the "best" class for someone who wanted to play a Sorcerer, nor would it be the "best" class for someone who thought the Fighter/Thief was the "best" class.

The best class is the one that you enjoy playing the most...

Agreed, A prefer ranger on back and wizard on Center
