Let me preface by saying I played BG on this laptop before....just been a long while. We now tried our MP save game, and are having issues that render the game unplayable.

My main character, upon the game screen, where you can select spells/special abilities, etc.....the strip along the bottom.......starts to like quiver, for lack of a better word....shake would be another.......shimmy?

If I click to one of the other characters I control, it stops/stabilizes.....but the buttons are non-responsive as well. Click on a button and nothing happens.

Sometimes, it will finally show the spells or abilities, after a very long period. But, this all resumes, and keeps doing it..

Tried to reload many times. Tried to start a new game. Same response issues with new game.

Seems odd, being it worked fine before. Nothing has changed on the laptop, that I am aware of.

I checked the tech area here and found nothing.

Original BG1 or Enhanced? Important.
Original I guess......that's all I own. I see they don't even sell that here anymore.

Ok, the first thing to try is a simple one: reboot your computer. A fix for many anomalous computer behaviours.

Can you also confirm if this is in multiplayer, and does the same thing happen in single player?
Yeah, I did reboot....problem before and after.

Single player and multi player.

And this is *only* on your main character and no other? if that's the case, I can only surmise that your save game is corrupt. Try a new game, if only for testing, and see if the same thing happens.

Sorry, haven't tried to play again until now.....this is happening on new games, saved games(different games/groups).

So, no, don't think it's a corrupted save.

The task bar, or whatever you call it along the bottom of the screen, is ok....until you click on one character, which starts the quivering, gyrating, or whatever you want to call it. It will go away, if you click back on a different character, sometimes.

So, game is still unplayable.

I've never come across anything like this. I can only suggest you completely uninstall the game and then reinstall it. You said the game was fine before, so this may be the best avenue to try.
Well, that's pretty basic, but I did it anyhow. Uninstalled from Galaxy....reinstalled.....same problems.

When you go to Create your MP game and to the load screen of saves, the graphics kind of glitch out every single time, showing the Galaxy page in extra large font size.....I have to click on the Baldur's icon at the bottom of the screen.......it's done this every single time.....think it usually loads the page itself, but not real fast today....anyhow, wondering if this is part of the issue.

Obviously, something's amiss. Worked fine before. After re-installing, I thought maybe it was ok...clicked each character, but when I got back to one, it started doing it again.

Not sure what's next, other than sadly forgetting about this game. I've never completed it, and sure would like to.

billybgame: Uninstalled from Galaxy....
You never mentioned Galaxy until now. That's pretty important. You should first of all disable the Galaxy overlay. If that doesn't help, install the game *without* Galaxy and try again.

Sorry....got busy and haven't tried game again until today. None of this worked.:(

I also contacted GoG support, and they sent me a seemingly canned reply, about running as Admin and enabling the game past firewalls(as if I wouldn't know these things by now, and what do they have to do with the ongoing issue anyways?).

But, I did try to disable transparent shadows and fullscreen. Nothing stops the issue.

If i click on the characters enough....which seems to be twice....when it gets to my main character, his toolbar at the screen bottom starts gyrating, quivering, shaking....not sure what to call it.

Never did this before...and it has been played on this laptop.....so what gives? What's next to try?
I'm sorry, I'm out of ideas. If you installed the game without Galaxy and it still does it... well, like I said, I've never seen anything like that. If you're on Windows 10 it may be a W10 thing.
Can you take a screenshot of the situation? I also never seen or heard of this issue before.

Meanwhile, you can try downloading and installing from the "OFFLINE BACKUP GAME INSTALLER".
1. Uninstall the game from Galaxy. Never open Galaxy again.
2. Download backup installer:
BG1: setup_baldurs_gate_2.0.0.20.exe
BG2: setup_baldurs_gate2_2.0.0.12.exe, setup_baldurs_gate2_2.0.0.12-1.bin and setup_baldurs_gate2_2.0.0.12-2.bin (wrote those just incase)
3. Install the game by running the exe file.
4. Start a new game by creating a new character. See if anything changes.

I suggest working through the canned replies (which are in place to deal with the most common problems) and you should eventually be referred to a more senior support person who will perform trouble shooting specific to your problem.
I wish I could do a screen shot....though not sure that would tell much, as it's a constant movement of the icons. Anyhow, I cannot figure out how to get screen shots to work on this laptop, at all. I've about had it with this and sadly, this game. Nothing seems to work. I will see what I can do about alternative installs, etc.....I do have physical disks, by the way. The game worked fine before, so it's really dismaying.

Given how easy it is to get some games to work nowadays, I have little patience for things like this anymore. The days of taking apart my desktop to get games to work are a distant fog:) It just makes me almost not want to bother, anymore.

Wanted to play Deus Ex, and had issues....seemed like I need to do brain surgery, to get it to work.....uh....I'll pass.

Edit: Maybe this got lost from the original post, but the other characters have their buttons nearly non-responsive also. So, you click on their spell button for instance, and nothing happens. So, the game is unplayable.
