In general, Yeslick is a much more versatile character than Branwen. But since you're already playing a ranger/cleric, he wouldn't add that much. Basically, he'd be an inferior clone of the protagonist.
On the other hand, having a third front-liner might be helpful in your party-lineup. Up to you.

Pangaea666: Sorry for the necro, but I was going back through the pages and came across this thread.
I don't know if this aspect has been changed in the fixpack of by BGT, but I've not installed the part of the tweakpack that prevents NPCs fighting (in fact, Edwin killed off Dynaheir when we found her), but I have Kivan and Viconia in my party, and they have not come to blows. It has seemed close a few times, but at some point I was able to mediate between them, and that sorted things. I do have the NPC Project, so maybe that mod prevents the mortal fight between Kivan and Viconia? In any case, I've got them both and it has worked out well.
Then there is this: http://www.sorcerers.net/Games/BG/bg_npc_conflicts.php
There are four random paths the dialog can take. If Kivan and Viconia are interacting, the fight happens if the dialog goes like so: I don't know if this aspect has been changed in the fixpack of by BGT, but I've not installed the part of the tweakpack that prevents NPCs fighting (in fact, Edwin killed off Dynaheir when we found her), but I have Kivan and Viconia in my party, and they have not come to blows. Kivan: "How are we to trust one who venerates the Spider Queen?
Viconia: "I worship Lolth no longer."
Kivan: "Your evil ways will bring you ruin, Dark Elf."
Viconia: "If you wish to die, I am pleased to assist."
Kivan: "You dark-hearted bitch, you'll die for that."
Player loses control of both, who fight to the death.

Ok. I've seen the first lines of that dialogue, but don't recall the specifics of how it proceeded, and in any case they haven't fought.
Presumably due to NPC Project mod, at one point I basically had a choice of letting them fight it out, or mediating, so it could have happened, though it was left up to me to sort of decide. Maybe I've been lucky, though I assumed based on that link I posted that it actually doesn't occur.

Kivan comes across as a jerk. Why is that jerk in your party? What good is he if all he does is pick fights with the ladies?

Both Kivan and Viconia come across as jerks to be honest, or at least as fairly annoying. From memory Viconia in BG2 wasn't quite like this, but it is what it is. If nothing else, it's interesting with opposing world views, which comes out in comments from other NPCs when taking quests and such, and of course from Kivan and Viconia as well. Oh, and Kivan is a MONSTER with a bow in his hands. At one point he was close to 50% of kills/XP. Now when mages pack more of a punch it's not that absurdly high, but the guy is a killing machine. Mobs get too close? No problem. Let him dualwield and mess them up that way instead. He's great =)

Kivan is an elf. Viconia is a Drow elf. There is bitter enmity between elves and Drow in the first place, but Kivan is a very bitter person because his beloved Deheriana was killed by Tazok and his bandit band. He is a person whose mind holds only revenge, and Viconia, a confrontational character, is ripe pickings. It's inevitable that they would clash.
