Amen to that! Every game should have it's own forum. You'd think that would simply be common sense.

Hey ya! I vote for a separate BG3 forum too!

Boy do I love BG1 and BG2. They're so good... really a once-a-generation kinda game.

Larian is well known for quality RPGs. So no worries, we'll get a good game for sure. But is it enough to be a good BG game is to be seen. I doubt that it'll be better than BG2, but BG2 is a legendary game so it's hard to expect that someone can beat it. If we receive something of PoE or NWN2 quality, I'll be content. My biggest fear is that BG3 will resemble Divinity Original Sin too much. It was a very linear experience for me and I didn't manage to finish it unfortunately.

Yeah that's what the consensus seems to be: if anybody can make a good BG game, it's Larian.

So now out of curiosity, the Divinity series is next on my to-do list.

Obsidian and inXile could also do a good BG game. And that's about it. Three companies with the biggest potential when it comes to development of classic RPG titles. I'm waiting impatiently what will show Larian. Usually I don't buy games on their release dates, but BG3 is a candidate for an exception. :)

Obsidian? Their current project is Epic exclusive!

The Outer Worlds is an exclusive for one year or so. I don't like it, but it doesn't change the fact that Obsidian is capable of delivering a good BG game. As for the exclusive thing, I wonder whether it was Obsidian's decision or its publisher. Anyway I'm not buying it until it's released at least for Steam.
I haven't played Wasteland 2 yet, but enjoyed TToN a lot. The game is quite unique when it comes to gameplay. Apart from some paragraph games and first Torment, it's hard to find a game that so heavily relies on writting. And it was a very good writting IMHO. Especially I enjoyed the small, closed histories that were provided by some items you found during gameplay. The main plot was also nice. I liked the whole concept of The Changing God character.

Yeah, they're known for buggy games. :) I presume The Outer Worlds won't change this tradition. Maybe there are some pros of Epic Games Store exclusive afterall. We'll get the game in a year or so, when most of the bugs will be eliminated. :)

Heh, yeah, tell me about it. I call it "the Obsidian Curse", where the first 2/3 of the game will be akin to a magical experience and you can't stop playing, then the last 1/3 devolves into a mess of bugs, plot holes, rushed endings, unanswered loose ends etc. And you can't help thinking, "What the hell happened to that amazing game I was playing?!" It feels to me like Obsidian just has terrible project management where they spend so much time working on the first parts of the game and then suddenly go "Oh shit, we have 6 months to launch and we're nowhere near finished!" And then they have to scramble to wrap everything up in time for launch date. XD

But if I had a choice whether to get a very buggy Fallout New Vegas or Fallout 4 without bugs, I'd still take the first one. :) Not that Fallout 4 was without bugs. I presume that some of the bugs in Obsidian games are the cause of pressure that the publisher put on the developers. They rushed the projects not giving more time to finish the development. From the player point of view it doesn't matter however. Most of the players want to get a bug free experience no matter the reasons.

They are simply bad developers. However, they have passion, ambition and good intent so I still support them. And I definitely agree with you on the F:NV vs F4. I can forgive bugs, but I can't forgive lazy writing, bad story, bad gameplay.

Regardless, I still believe that Larian was the best choice. I just hope they'll make it like a Baldur's Gate game and not an other Divinity franchise.

Btw, I took a look at D&D 5 rules and they look super complicated. So many details... Has anybody played 5 ruleset and what are their opinions?

Divinity series is known for its specific sense of humor. I hope that the writing for BG3 will be more serious. BG1 and BG2 had some funny moments, but the whole plot was rather serious. Larian has almost none experience in creating games which don't rely heavily on its specific sense of humor. That's my biggest fear regarding BG3.

5ed is not complicated at all. It is so streamlined, compared to the other editions, that it barely resembles d&d now. Played it and it feels more like Diablo 3 than any of the d&d video games.
