I've been playing through BG for the first time, and been enjoying it. Now, though, I've reached the final fight with Sarevok, and am simply being crushed. My party is the canon one: myself (a fighter/cleric dual class), Imoen (dual classed to mage), Jahiera, Kalid, Minsc and Dynaheir. I'm playing in BGT, and am about 10k xp above the 161k cap of TotSC. I've heavily buffed my party, using all the potions which are likely to be of use which I have. However, all the 'tactics' for the fight which are online consist of the cheesy 'pull one member at a time' method, or swamping Sarevok with summons (which is impossible due to the cap introduced, it seems, in TotSC). I haven't managed to get him below 'injured'.
I've been casting Web and Cloudkill on the area where Sarevok is and waiting until they move forwards to attack in response, fireballing the area in the meantime, which has been...somewhat effective, but doesn't have much effect on Sarevok beyond delaying him. I've been emptying wands of fire in Scorcher mode at Sarevok when he reaches my view range, and Jahiera's been using my Wand of the Heavens on him. I've tried various things with my other party members: toe to toe combat (fairly suicidal: he outdamages me, especially if a couple of his party manage to get through the cloudkill web), spreading out and shooting at him, dodging when he came towards me (sounds good, but the limited space and other enemies around made it even worse: he killed my two mages before I'd had a significant effect, and then the rest of his side turned up...), and using summons to buy time (which he killed faster than I could summon them, and meanwhile the I was having fireballs cast on me).
I haven't been using many magic missiles, as I used them up earlier and it hasn't really made sense from an rp perspective to take a nap while chasing after Sarevok, but I can do that if that's what's needed.
Either way, though, I'm going to sleep on the issue and if anyone has any tips for fighting him without using the cheap methods I mentioned at the top, I'd be glad to hear them. Thanks!
EDIT: I've just realised I missed one buffing spell: protection from evil. I don't think that'll give me the win on its own, though.
