Hi All,

I played BG 2 a thousand times, but I decided it to get in on GOG as well. I have a problem with the Tanner quest in the dock district. I finished the part in AMN and the tanner fled. But the part in Tradesmeet doesn't trigger as well as the part in UMAR hills where I can talk to the guy does not work. I have dropped (don't remember well) the scroll with the riddle. Could this be the reason?

To trigger the part in Trademeet you have to help Jenia's son, Tiris. But this will not trigger until after your party is declared the heroes of Trademeet -- complete the Druid Grove quest.

Indirectly, the fact that you dropped the scroll is the reason that you're not managing to start the part in the Umar Hills. In addition to giving the riddle, the scroll tells you to approach carrying the book 'The History of the Zhentarim'. That book can be bought within the Umar Hills, and I'd recommend you buy it there.

Wander around and explore the town, and (IIRC) someone will rush up to you before too long, begging for your help. Guess what quest that starts.

I left came back and walked around the east entrance of the city. The npc came up and started the quest :)
