I have experienced slowdown on various screens throughout BGT, but since arriving in Sahuagin City , the game has been unplayable. I tried increasing the cache size to 900, which helped temporarily, but now the problem has returned. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Wow! Over 500 lines. There is absolutely no way that all of those mods can be compatible with each other, especially since you have multiple mega mods included. It's no wonder you're having issues. Do you seriously need all of those mods?

I was also experiencing lag and severe slowdown, in some areas more than others, like in Nashkel for example. This somehow was affecting only my new laptop with relatively recent hardware, as I never experienced this problem on my previous older laptop. I've managed to solve completely by opening the file baldur.ini, and replacing the lines

Low Mem Sounds 1=0
Low Mem Sounds 2=0

with

Low Mem Sounds 1=1
Low Mem Sounds 2=1

Based on the number of mods in your WeiDU log, you might also consider installing Generalized Biffing (I can't post links either, but you should be able to easily find it with Google or on the Spellhold Studios website). The Generalized Biffing mod should be installed last, after all other mods, to biff the game's files in your override folder for improved performance.

I already hinted at your underlying problem: your absolutely massive amount of mods, including multiple mega mods. With that huge list, not all of them can be compatible with one another. You need to take stock and thin them out, leaving in only the mods you absolutely need.

ousteroune, first check baldur.i.ini to see if the "Low Mem Sounds" fix is still there. For example, if you run BGConfig to change something else, some of the settings in baldur.ini may revert to default values.

If the fix is still there, try installing Generalized Biffing, unless you did already. On some hardware it can really make a huge difference in performance if you have a lot of mods installed. Unfortunately, currently the Spellhold Studios website is down, so you'll have to wait for it to be back.

Incompatible mods can cause all kind of problems (bugs, crashes, etc.), but don't usually cause slowdowns, unless you have too many files in override, and this is usually fixed by installing Generalized Biffing.

It's not just the amount of files that can cause slowdowns. Badly written mods, especially script-heavy mods, can do far more harm in this respect than file numbers.
