Hello guys I wonder something about the EE Sale.

Yesterday, my original cd 2 of BG2 died (RIP and thanks for the countless nights !!!)

I know that on April 29 the original version won't be sale anymore on his own and will be merge with the EE to become the definitive edition.

So this is my question : if I buy the EE today, will I have the original version added to my account on April 29 as part of the definitive edition or not?

Is this apply for BG1 too ?

Thanks.

No. Buy them now, while you can. From the announcement:

"On April 29, Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition, Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition, and Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition will be expanded to include the classic versions – each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately. If you already own the classics on GOG.com, the games currently on your shelf won't be affected."

They're not going to give you the classics for free. You will still have the classics if you buy them now, that's the message.

Thanks it's good to know !! The news was not totally clear for me.

Perhaps you should read what you quoted. It has been asked many times. You will get the classics for free if you own the EE.
I asked support 7 hours ago about this. I will write here if I get an answer.

No, dumbass, the classics will be included in the new 'Definitive' edition, which means that they are included in any future purchase. You will not be able to buy the classics or the enhanced editions separately. Why is it so hard to fathom for some people?
I agree, it's pretty vague according to the announcement. "[enhanced editions] will be expanded to include the classic versions" says nothing about whether existing enhanced editions will change, or if this is a new change going forward.

Yes. Obviously you will not be able to buy them separately, but it will be included nethertheless. That is exactly what I wrote.

Thank you for the unnecessary namecalling.

<Sigh!> Don't expect that telling me I can't read doesn't deserve a response, dull stone. Oh, and you can't spell 'nevertheless' or 'name calling'. I suggest *you* are the one who needs to learn how to read.

No it isn't.

Okay then, if I understand your correctly, Hickory, it will become impossible to buy the original games if you already own the enhanced editions, without buying the "definitive edition". So that means you will be paying for the enhanced editions a second time. Am I understanding clearly?

Separately. It will become impossible to buy the original (or EE) games separately. There is no ambiguity here: "...each becoming the Definitive Edition Bundle and not available for purchase separately"
Okay, thanks for clarifying. That seems like an unfair situation though. And I think it is likely that GOG will have to do something about it. There will be a lot of people complaining and asking for refunds on their enhanced editions because they can't buy the original games any more. Sure, they can buy the "definitive bundles", but those will probably cost like $15-20, or more than the originals alone did anyway. So the bottom line is that anyone who only owns BG1EE, for example, will have already paid for BG1EE, and then they will essentially have to buy BG1EE again to get BG1 Original.

It seems likely to me that they'll give a deep discount on the definitive edition if you already own the EE version of that game. If you're right, however, then there will be a lot of upset people and they will give GOG customer support a big headache until they fix the situation. Saying "tough luck" will not be a fair thing to do or worth the headache to GOG, in my opinion.
If you already own the originals on here you don't get the EE versions for free later I assume when they become bundled as one? I would have to buy the EE versions or the new package as it were even if I already own the originals on GoG basically? I'm not complaining about if need to buy them again to get the EE versions on GoG especially since not very expensive, I was just curious what the case will be after they merge into one package.

Dunno, I think it's unclear what's going to happen. Their announcement doesn't indicate that they're going to include anything for anyone. Maybe they'll do it. They DID announce that the enhanced editions are 85% off if you own the originals until the end of the month. Maybe you'd want to jump on that since that's like $3 per game
