Does anyone know a portrait site suitable for 8-bit? I have tried a couple higher quality sites, but reducing them blurs them too much. Thanks
Bob
Which program are you using? I can recommend Paint.net program which is free and works perfectly.

However I dont know any web site where you can find already resized pictures for BG.

Reducing an image does not blur it, on the contrary a reduced image usually looks clearer and sharper, given that the original is good quality, so you must be doing something wrong. Can you explain exactly what the problem is?

I used Paint to take a sharper quality picture and reduce to 256 (8bit). That type of reduction. Some of the Portraits for BGII are really good. But the reduction--- reduced in pixels--- makes them blurry. I was just wondering if a series of BG1 Portraits are available. I've looked and they all seem to be BGII. I'll look again.

Thanks

So you reduced the colour palette? That's different. Why would you do that? Baldur's Gate is perfectly capable of displaying 24/32 bit images, which is what the originals are.
looks like here are a few.

site is in german, click the portaits in the upper right corner for them. don't know about their quality, never used them.

The instructions I've read say the small portrait needs to be 8-bit bit map portrait (BMP). If not that would be great.

Thanks. Looks good.
When you think how much time people have put into the game to keep it going. Software coders adding mods, artists taking the time on new portraits--- they designers made one heck of a game.

The instructions are wrong. They don't have to be. I have dozens of portraits, some of my own creation and some that come from packs, and all of them are 24 bit, including the small portraits. They display just fine.
