I only have Baldur's Gate 1 and I've downloaded from Gibberlings, the widescreen mod and the BG1 Tweak Pack. Neither of these mods work; the widescreen mod shows installation errors and the Tweak Pack installs but shows no effect in game.

I'm on Windows 7 and I've installed the game in a folder NOT in program files.
I've done some reading online and I've found that the widescreen mod is incompatible with the GOG version of BG1 and it requires TUTU or BGT.

I've not been able to figure out why the tweak pack isn't working.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Did you install all the tweaks? Are you sure you grabbed BG1 tweak pack (and not 2) - sorry, have to ask.
Sometimes, installing other mods affects things and the order you install them in - I believe tweak-pack must be installed first before any other mods - so try uninstalling widescreen and tweak-pack then reinstalling just the tweak pack. (What tweaks did you notice not working?)

Also check the tweak-pack zip integrity - make sure all the files are in there.

Yes I've tried installing the widescreen mod alone on a fresh install.
I've tried installing the BG1 Tweaks pack alone on a fresh install.

The widescreen mod wont install without giving me an error message.
The tweak pack installs but does not have an effect on a new char i create.

could you be more specific? What effect are you trying to get? Is this one tweak that isn't working at startup or have you noticed others once you start the game?

What messages do you get when you finish installing the tweak pack? Does it deliver the [tweak-abc]-installed report?

The only other thing I can think of is to try redownloading the tweak pack and installing it again.

If you didn't do it previously, Disable UAC, & your Antivirus.
Reinstall running Setup.exe as administrator.

No it comes with the mods.
If you installed BG1Tweaks, you will have the WeiDU log file in your game directory.

Nevermind, it seems to be working now. I disabled my anti virus and the process went smoothly. My only remaining question is how can I use a custom portrait?

The measurements for player portraits are 38X60 pixels for the small ones
(8-bit color only) and 110X170 pixels for the large ones. Put these in
the Portraits directory (in the install directory for the game) and add a
S to the end of the small portrait name and an L to the end of the large
portrait. The names must be 1-7 letters long, maximum.
For example:
XXXXXXXS.bmp for small (38x60, 8-bit)
XXXXXXXL.bmp for large (110x70, 24-bit)

If you haven't got a directory called Portraits in your install directory, just create one.

If you want to put custom portraits for your NPC's,name them as in the link below & put them in your overide directory.
