A family member just asked what I liked so much about it... and I couldn't give them a straight answer. Could you guys help me put together a list of things that the baldur's gate saga does that it awesome? Thanks for any help.

Then it wouldn't be what *you* liked about it, would it?

Well, for me, it is the RPG that I have the most fun playing. My favorite aspect of the game is the dialogue between party members. I find it really adds a lot to the game and makes replaying it much more fun. I'm the same way about adventure games. I like games with lots of dialogue. And the dialogues add a lot of depth and/or humor to your party members. They're not just different pictures and classes, they also have a wide variety of personalities.

I also really like the variety of the quests. There are many different kinds of quests and many different kinds of environments/dungeons. I like the amount of content too. There is so much you can do. Also, as I mentioned above, I like the opportunity to play it again and again without getting bored because of trying different classes for the main character, different ways to finish quests, playing different alignments, and experimenting playing with different NPCs.
Special about Baldur's Gate 2 is the powergaming feel, almost everywhere you fight some mighty wizard/lich/dragon/... with a powerful spell system where spells require special countermeasures.

If that is what you like, then tell this to your family members :)

- The dialogs
- The characters
- Playing and replaying with different classes
- Variety of quests.
- The backdrops / environments
- Huge content / long gameplay

There's your list :)
Despite having really liked my playthrough, I think I’d have an easier time listing what I *didn’t* like about it ;)
I played it just after BG1, and felt much was lost from the former in BG2.

No, it would be. It would just help me realize some things and help me think more critically about some things.

This is really great. I have the same feelings about the game. I really enjoyed the characters, especially some of the dialogs between Jan and Keldorn!

I found the chatter between Valygar & Viconia in my party rather revealing...

Viconia: "I have been thinking ranger ...and I have decided that I do feel sorry for you."

Valygar: "Hmph. And why is that, Viconia?"

Viconia: "Your family. Once so wealthy & powerful. To be left with only a lowly male as its last member. How truly sad that is."

Valygar: "My Family was cursed during its existence. If I am the last of the Corthalas, it will be a well and good thing."

Viconia: "Have you no desire to produce more of your kind? Perhaps you have been rebuffed in your attempts, or perhaps your desires lie elsewhere, hmmm?"

Valygar: "There is nothing I would tell you Drow, no matter your comments."

Viconia: "Ah, yes. A sad, sad thing. To be a lowly male and to retreat from the pleasures of female flesh."

Valygar: "I like women enough, Viconia! Leave me be!"

Viconia: "Of course, Valygar, of course. I shall leave you to your sad suffering."

:D
The only thing better than reading a good book is playing a good book. That's what BG always felt like to me.
