Go to your games library via your web browser, find Baldur's Gate, click More and Serial Keys. Here you can find the code that will allow you to redeem the original BG game. The same procedure applies to BG2.

in the past the games simply got auto placed into our library... what is the point of making people jump extra hoops?

p.s, see image... there is no 'More' with keys in it

click on downloads, then click on more, then click on serial keys, you will see a html address to redeem the original non EE version of the game. just copy and paste that address into your web browser

Will this work for planescape torment and Icewind dale as well?
No. For Icewind Dale Enhanced Edition, you get a serial key for the classic edition. However, according to the game page for Planescape Torment, no serial key is issued:

---
Planescape: Torment: Enhanced Edition includes the unaltered original version and the Enhanced Edition in one definitive collection exclusively on GOG.com. (The original version will be automatically added to your account after purchase.)

They seem to be trying out all possible ways to distribute the originals to us. Wish they would pick a favorite method and stick to it. And document it in the interface, so we don't have threads like this every few months.
Agreed. To further confuse the issue, the Icewind Dale game page states:

---
Icewind Dale: Enhanced Edition includes the classic Icewind Dale Complete.
---

At least for me, this is not true. I never got the classic edition in my account. I did get a serial key listed on the Enhanced Edition, which I can't use since it requires solving GOG's broken gift code redemption challenge.
it is there in my account, listed under downloads then keys in the Icewind Dale game page... you have to use a web browser
It's just that the russian versions of the EE store-pages does not say that the original games are included

Classic BG1 is NOT worth the download, maybe worth to own just to flex your gog library. BG2 classic worth to download and play since it's actually functional.

BG1 classic is like playing a gameboy games on 3440 screen. By the end of your playthrough you'd need to check your eyes on nearest clinic. Don't trust these gog crowd saying "play the classic instead", I assure you that they have some kinf of deficiency in their cranium.

You don't have to worry about your poor графодрочерских (don't know how to translate) eyes, nobody is forcing you to play the original Baldur's gate, whoever wants to do it, will do it anyway.
