I have recently installed BG2 and ToB from GOG and I was having a blast playing a game I actually never finished when I was younger.

Last week, I was doing the Cult of the Unseen storyline and everything was fine. I saved the game on thursday and didn't have time to play until last night. So I loaded my game and the speed of the game has suddently turned out to be really slow, the cursor is flickering and completly disapears from time to time. I tried loading other saved games to see if it was an issue with the area, but ToB games and other games are just as buggy.

I then tried reinstalling the game, but nothing works, the game is now unplayable.

Has anyone ever had this happen to them?

Anyone knows how to fix this?

Tallima: Perhaps a driver update installed incorrectly?

What's your operating system?

I'd recommend fishing around your restore points and try restoring your computer to a week or two ago and then see if that helps. If it does, then either a driver was downloaded with some messed up bits or perhaps the driver and your hardware together are incompatible.

If you have Windows 8, these types of things seem to happen more frequently.

SkittlesOwn: I have restarted the computer multiple times, I have also tried to make a clean new install, but it doesnt fix the problem. I have a flickering cursor in the menus as well.

Tallima: I don't know how PC literate you are, so sorry if it sounds trite. But be sure you are actually restarting and not just putting it to sleep and then bringing it back.

If you look at your driver's last update date, you'll see if they updated.

You'll also probably want to send in a support ticket to GOG. They are wizards at this stuff.

I did properly shut down my computer. I try to do so regularly as a matter of fact, especially since I use my laptop at home and at work.

How do I check my last driver update?

As for DDraw fix, is there anything special that needs to be done to make it work in Windows 8 because it did not work properly for me.

Also, since the game last worked, I have installed some games, one of which is BG1 and TotSC and it works just fine, dunno if that means anything.

Tallima: I know a lot about it, but no specifics, I'm afraid. Open a ticket with support and they'll help you out.

As for a driver date: If you can find your device manager in Win8 (I rarely use Win8, sorry) then you can look at the properties of your graphics processor and see the driver date.

SkittlesOwn: Since I first answered, I mangaed to install DDraw fix, but nothing changed in the game, it is still not working like it was one week ago.

SkittlesOwn: All my other games, most of which are far more demanding, work perfectly fine. I doubt a laptop clean up would change much for one particular game.
