Any way to slow down the gog.com version? Run it in something? Combat is my big issue. It's just way too quick to keep up with and having the auto stops constantly kick in is quite annoying...

Is there not a facility to slow down the game in the setup options?

Can't look right now as I am re-installing the game (messed up my install playing around with the widescreen mod ;) )
Yeah sorry ignore this post. If you jack up the AI/second it really speeds the game up. I placed it back in the default value and the game returned to normal. I just figured the value might be associated with in game AI, meaning monsters might be smarter, harder, etc... Guess I was wrong :)

The frame rate in the config needs to be set to 30fps for the game to run at the correct speed, my guess is that you've increased it without knowing.
...60fps can be handy sometimes.

Edit:
Doh!, you beat me to it :P

Yeah it's been a LONG time since i've played this game. I remember it fondly, tear, tear...

Was waiting for a digital version for the longest time. Hopefully the others are coming down the pipe.
I was actually going to suggest changing the CPU core affinity for BG since you have an AMD Athlon 64 X2. Postal 2 sped up way too fast for me until I toked it down.
AMD X2... I hate problems with this processor (even though, I have it). Firstly - I'd suggest checking AMD DualCore Optimizer - almost none of the games work without it... then try setting CPU core affinity for BG (Task Manager).
On a dual-core machine, you need to set the AI/frame speed to 25. The original game was actually a bit sedate in its speed(30 is still too fast), which is a requirement later in the game as spells and ranged combat get to be hairy if set at 30.
The game pretty much requires or assumes that you have a few levels or multi-class in thief, though. Also, the stat roller is not a fixed number of points. Keep rolling until you get 88-90 points total, then tweak. It makes the game a lot easier.
