Just re installed Baldursgate 1 and 2 standard again after screwing up modding. Now after re installing everything both games launch to a black screen that crashes with a standard application not responding windows error. Any help?

Check the usual suspects:
-Try explicitly running the game with Administrator privileges. Right-click the game's shortcut and select "Run as Administrator"
- Don't install the game into Windows' Program Files folder, but into a custom location like C:\GOG Games\
- (Re-)install the June 2010 DirectX runtime package. Extract it to a separate folder and run dxsetup. Then use the DirectX web installer to make sure all the newest components are present as well.
- Update your graphics drivers
- Also compatibility mode (especially for Windows XP) might help; Right-click the game's shortcut, select Properties and go to the Compatibility tab.

Ignore this post. Fixed by restarting computer as it always does.

Should be the very first suspect.

It is, therefore I feel silly suggesting it most of the time.

Well, so is "Run as Administrator" ;)
