retsushi: If you're a new comer to the serie, I would suggest going directly to the EE.

It's not THAT buggy at all, it's very stable, and a new patch (2.5) is in BETA right now.

It's really plug and play, you don't need any mod to make it run well on a modern machine.

Engerek01: Yes. It is THAT buggy. I can't remember the number of bugs I encountered while playing the latest BG1:EE. The worst part is, Beamdog is deleting the bug reports that are entered in their bug center. I entered 12 game breaking bugs into their system with solid proof with pictures. I did that TWICE and they deleted them TWICE. One proof that they are deleting bug reports is that there were over thousand (1000) bugs in their system 2 years ago. Now there is a lot less YET there are NON fixed bugs in the last 2 years. So a sane person should ask, what happened to those bugs?

So yes, EEs are buggy as hell. So annoying that I could finish BG1:EE in around 100 hours.
At the moment there are 1,055 bugs and feature requests in their system for BG:EE. If you're seeing less, it's because you are filtering the bug list. Set the status to "All", then click Apply and you should see all bugs and feature requests.

In actual fact there are, at this time, *only* 21 open bugs in the tracker, all others are dismissed or closed.

When a bug is first opened, it gets the status "Open". Once Beamdog starts looking at a bug, it changes its status. That doesn't mean it has been discarded or deleted. So when you filter on "open" bugs, you only see the 21 relatively new bugs. Change the "Status" filter to "All", and you will see the bugs that are, for example, "Submitted" - that means Beamdog is working on them.

(Granted, they could work faster. But claiming they are not working on them, or that they delete bugs from the system, is just untrue.)

Yeah, right. If you refine the 'feature' to look for all bugs currently 'In Progress' there are none.

No it doesn't. I have, like the other person, first-hand experience of submitting genuine bugs that get summarily dismissed or mysteriously disappear off their tracker. All that 'submitted' means is that it has been... submitted by somebody.

When was the last time Beamdog put out a patch?

(... But claiming they are not working on them, or that they delete bugs from the system, is just untrue.)
Then you know nothing.

If you disable all filters, you'll see that bug numbers have gaps in them. So they do "disappear". I think they're moved to the "private" project. Although why do they feel the need to do that, I'm not sure.

As for "submitted", looks like it means that it's been reviewed by staff and deemed to be a genuine bug, having sufficient info to work on.

browncoat1984: I normally go for Human / Fighter in these types of games.
Try Half Orc. You get to have 19 str and con at the start.
As single class fighter, pick a weapon and specialize it to the max. (all five pips) You'll be an unstoppable meat grinder. Works even better with dual wielding

and ignore the discussion about bugs. I've played multiple chars start to finish in BG:EE and the only problem I ran into was the game crashing if I alt-tab

It's surprisingly buggy in SoD.

SoD is a part of Baldur's Gate, for better or for worse. It's bugs become Baldur's Gate bugs.

Yes, it is.

browncoat1984: Thank you for the suggestions, after research on the options I decided to go through a Big World playthrough of the Enhan ced Edition Trilogy with BG, SoD and BG2.
