So yea the topic is pretty much self explanatory but I noticed another website suggesting the chain mail without saying why and when you go to sell the two items in BG 1 the chainmail is more money. Now I know that it weighs less than the plate mail but the plate mail provides more armor adjustment bonuses than the chain mail. I am asking because I am almost finished with my BG 1 game and can't decide which to import into BG 2. Oh yea and both provide the same AC bonus which is armor class 2. Am I missing something because it would seem to me that the plate mail + 1 is better than the chain mail even with the weight advantage it provides.
If you compare chain +3 and plate +1, chainmail is better 'cause the +3 is also used to saving throws vs physical stuff (fireballs, lightning bolts etc..).

If it does that, it doesn't show it on the record screen, and it shows it for rings of protection and such.... Don't worry too much about which you pick, as they'll serve you equally well at the start of BG2.
Full Plate is better than both if you only like the protection. I recommend just equipping the armor which looks best on your character, you obviously don't have problems with game difficulty.
It's not worth preparing special stuff for importing into BG2, there's enough good equipment there.

If you're only hesitating for the BG 2 import, then it doesn't matter.
You lose all your equipment at the start of BG 2, and never get it back.

Armor enchantment bonuses are not applied to saving throws, unless specifically stated otherwise in the item's description. Your records screen shows all of your saving throws and any modifiers from items.

If both have equal amounts of AC values at your char screen, note that Plate is better because it has bonus of -1 towards slashing AC over chain mail.

I guess that chain mail has penalty of +2 AC vs Blunt weapons.

So overall; Plate +1 -> Better than -> Chain Mail +3
Because; its -3 Slash AC Bonus -> Better than -> +2 Blunt AC penalty, -2 Slash AC Bonus.

Note: Check the character sheet when you wear armors (you'll need to scroll down a bit to see individual AC modifiers if there are any), to see what addition penalty or bonuses the Armor puts on the character.

Actually some items are imported, and can be found scattered in the first dungeon.

Here is the list: http://www.forgottenwars.com/bg1/miscellany.htm
