I already own the original titles, and have played a fully modded BGII which greatly enhanced/expanded it's content. Should I even bother buying the enhanced editions? I would consider it because the originals don't work on my new machine running windows 10. I still have my old machine which runs windows 7 which I keep totally offline now. Thanks.

The opinions vary depending on who you ask. ;) Personally I like the EE very much. They have some tweaks and improvements that are making life easier while playing the games. And they cause less problems on modern hardware. Most of the mods were updated to work with the new versions, so you shouldn't have problems with them. Basically, for the price they're on sale right know, it's a no brainer for me. :)
I enjoyed playing through BG1EE although I had played the original version and BG Trilogy before.

Thanks, I bought them. I figure the sale is the perfect time. I'm going to try and install some mods now.
you are much better off to play EE without mods at least once... if for no other reason than to understand what works before mods mess things up

Thanks for the tip. I've played the original a few times already so i didn't want to just replay it again unmodded, so i modded it with a few already. If things mess up I'll just redownload. Thanks for the response!
I'm glad that you decided to give the Enhanced editions a go. I believe that they are very good and the QOL and zoom in and out feature is really great. I think the dislike for them is a bit overblown and it's mainly a vocal minority that have an issue with the writer on the expansion Siege of Dragonspear even though I never felt that expansion had that "SJW" feeling. I got no such vibes from it and thought that it was decent too.

Hope you're enjoying the Enhanced editions! I find them really fun.

Having both versions, Enhanced and classic, both with MODS...Handsdown, if you can run it, the classic version is so much better. You now have mods that intruduces most of all the EE enhancements.
EE version SCALING is god awfull. The UI even with mods is completely off the scales in balance. Either too small or too big UI. The graphics are compressed and look worst than the original. UI design is also completely off. Basically it has been designed for tablets and phones.
I think most people who enjoy the EE edition completly forgot how the original game played and looked...or just gaved up trying to run it due to compability issues...sadly.

I played both and prefer classic versions. Many reasons but the main ones are (1) UI, (2) balance, (3) do not enjoy the new content and how forced it is. Also some of the bug "fixes" actually really affect the gameplay in a way it makes the game less enjoyable to me.

The story is different with IWD or Planescape. There, I do recommend playing EE editions. I feel that Beamdog learned from its mistakes and did a very good job updating these two for modern systems. But for BG1 and BG2, I only play classic editions.
The BG Enhanced Editions are a buggy mess. Not being able to uninstall those horrendously written new NPCs isn't a good thing either.

The Planescape Torment EE, and the Icewind Dale EE, are great though. I don't think I ran into a single issue with the Icewind Dale one, actually.
I don't know why Stig79's post is "low rated". His opinion is as valid as anybody else's. He even endorses the Enhanced Editions of two of the three Infinity Engine games.

Personally I am grateful for the Enhanced Editions, as it has put my all-time favorite games back in the spotlight again.

For BG, I prefer the classic versions myself. The originals are very near and dear to my heart.

But that's just me. Whichever ones you prefer... Cheers!

Not having played the Classic Editions, I cannot comment on which is better. However, I will note that saying the EEs are "a buggy mess" without a version qualifier that readers could use to judge whether the complaint remains valid, or a description of their bugginess isn't very helpful. As is, it's a vague opinion that cannot be readily disputed or evaluated. If it had enumerated specific ways the EEs were buggy, preferably ways where the corresponding CEs worked better, it would be a more helpful post.
I believe Beamdog ironed out most of the bugs from the original EE release.

Not in the BG games.

That expansion messes up the lore and the story.

as for the SJW stuff, the writer said she had injected as much of it as possible. In one instance, if you play as a female, an NPC will call you a "wench" (which is a common term in the Forgotten Realms), and all of the 5 replies to it which you can chose from are all "I am offended" in different ways.

For me, Classic edition (complete) all the way.
You now have mods that brings it nearly on par with the EE version.
The UI is so much nicer/cleaner than EE. Its snappier (moving items around). The graphics also look sharper have better color rendition than the EE, which used upscaled low rez image. Side by side, it looks way pixelated. The UI scaling is just awful; proportions are off. This weird mix of sharp EE UI with low rez 20 year old graphics just looks bad and goofy. IMHO.
