yester64: @ mystral Oh my, i did not realize that this is from the expansion. See, its a long time that i played this game and at that time i never finished the game.
That is good to know since i can revisit the location at a later time.
@ Tallima I think i lost Minsc at an early stage since i took my time and he got hostile. Since then i could get him back to join again. Even though it said somewhere that you can make them rejoin if you are a higher level. I did got her to join me and even though we were bumping a couple of time into Minsc he never joined.
I am not sure if it was a mistake at the beginning to put a lot of points in dex (i am just so used to) but i read that dex is not that helpful in the game.
Anyway, i will try to advance as much as i can. I will revisit some locations before i return to cloakwood to defeat the spider queen.
Both Durlag's Tower and the werewolf island are part of the expansion. The werewolf island isn't that hard, provided you have the weapons needed to hurt greater wolfweres, and 2 of those are given on the island.
Durlag's Tower OTOH is the hardest part of the game.
As for Minsc, he'll go hostile if you don't go to the Gnoll Fortress to rescue Dynaheir quickly. Then there's no way to get him back.
In BG having as high a dex as possible (provided it's higher than 15) is actually very important, because it'll make your AC better and it'll help on your attack rolls with bows, and bows are often the best weapon to use early on, since they get an extra attack per round.
If you want to play an elven pure fighter, ideal starting stats are 18/00 strength, 19 dex, 17 con and 8 or higher for every other stat, since they don't matter.
Except for charisma, you can push that to 18 if you have the points for better prices in shops and quest rewards, but if you don't have the points, just use Imoen as leader whenever talking to NPCs, her 16 charisma is good enough.
