Summoned skeletons are immune to petrification.

Summon skeletons + haste will give grief to basilisks. Hit with arrows from behind.

xy2345: It's a level 2 spell. My party was around the same level, but it consisted of 6 members. The mage probably won't have enough level 2 spells to protect the whole party, but that is okay, if one makes sure, that the protected ones are in front and being attacked by the basilisk.

Protection from Petrification is a level 1 mage spell in BGII, and if you are using something like EasyTutu, it's a level 1 mage spell in your BGI.

It was a level 2 mage spell in the original Baldur's Gate.

hercufles: What lvl do you need to be to do that dungeon I never made it even against the battle horrors my party is average lvl 4, 5
I'd rather do it as early as possible, as the magical items found there can be quite useful. Or at least, do the first 2 levels as early as possible. I believe a level 5 team can do the whole tower with preparation and proper consideration before every major encounter. If you are skillful, a level 4 team with a level 5 mage and thief and definitely beat it.

A little spoiler: You will pick up the following items in the Tower
Plate Mail +3 (One of the best armors in the whole game)
Cloak of the Shield (One of the best cloaks)
Kiel's Helmet (Useful if you have Khalid)
Large Shield +2 (Best shield)
Bala's Axe (Useful against spell-casters)
Mace +2 (Best Mace)
Sling +3 (Best Sling)
Staff of Striking (A very powerful blunt weapon)
Flame Tongue (Best Longsword IMO)
Two Handed Sword +3 (Best Sword, is frightening even in early BG2)

In addtion, you will find tons of potions and ammo, but of course you will deplete lots of them during your tower adventure.

Time to give it a second run and better a full run from BG1 to ToB! I have never done that though, could be epic, I mean, could take at least 200 hours.

I've done a full run of the series with a single character precisely once, and the feeling I got when it ended and I got the epilogues for my party is still one of the best feelings I've ever gotten from a video game. The fact that my character got to go off with the love of his life and their children to explore the world without any prophecies hanging over his head was awesome to me. :)

Well, one is not supposed to import anything except the pantaloons into BG2. One can do of course, if one is sneaky, but that causes a few problems with items from BG1, that are not really in BG2 (you can get items with the proper effects but without the item description). For instance that Two Handed Sword +3. It does not exist in BG2. Instead they give you an Two Handed Sword of Fireball. Every now and then the sword triggers a fireball and the guy wielding it stands in the centre of it. Frightening indeed.

It took me 175 hours to pretty much do everything in the game.
