Does BG1:EE have changed dialogues/npcs or is it just SoD?

I know BG1:EE (NON siege of dragonspear) has like 4 new companions or something and the black pits thing, but I'm not talking about the companions, I mean the rest of the game.

I heard they changed Jaheira and stuff, but apparently, only if you have Siege of Dragonspear installed. I don't want SoD...

I want the completely vanilla game, except with the bugfixes from the "Enhanced" Edition and the new graphics, you know? So what's it like?

PS:Sorry if the thread ended up a little confusing. It's late and I'm tired. If it's too confusing, I'll try to clarify anything. thanks

All the original story content is untouched. Maybe they've corrected a misspelling or two, but that's it. You'll experience pretty much the same game, but with new NPCs, refreshed UI and some other features.

BG1:EE, except for the new NPCs, should be unchanged. As I understand it, they weren't allowed to make changes to the base content when creating the EE.

They changed Jaheira's personality for SOD, not for BG1 or BG2.

Yes, they did. But really, it depends on your definition of "changed." Beamdog apologists will maintain that none of the original dialogue was deleted, therefore nothing was changed. This is just pure sophistry on their part. The Enhanced Editions included new dialogue that adds to and ultimately changes the tone and behavior of the core characters. That's changing them.

You'll find that no Beamdog apologist comes out and admits that there's new dialogue, they'll just always lie by omission and say things like "All the original story content is untouched." or "BG1:EE, except for the new NPCs, should be unchanged."

Included are some dialogue snippets from existing characters not found in the core game but are now included in the Enhanced Edition. Your call on whether these interactions improved the game or not.

If you skip the new NPCs, you won't encounter any dialogues that weren't included in the original game (apart from the NPC introduction dialogues).

Which is exactly what should have been said in the first place, not that the originals were untouched.

I have been called many things over the years, but "Beamdog apologist" is a new one. And I didn't need to give them a cent to earn the name. :D

One would certainly hope that dialogue is added for the new NPCs. If they changed content that didn't interact with the new NPCs, please indicate what changed so I can update my information.

Sophistry.

Sarafan said it correctly in the very first reply: "All the original story content is untouched."

Nothing was changed or taken away. They just added more stuff.

Yeah, but what new content? Like new lines to already-existing npcs?

It wasn't untouched, it was added to. If I draw a moustache on the Mona Lisa, I can't argue that the original painting is still under the changes I made and therefore is untouched.

Yes, exactly that. Those two screenshots I posted earlier were examples of new dialogue that Beamdog wrote for existing NPCs.

As far as I'm aware, the only new stuff involves one of the new NPCs in some fashion. For example, the two screenshots that fellow up there shared both involve a new NPC. If it didn't involve a new NPC, it didn't change. There is new dialogue from old NPCs in order for them to actually respond to new NPCs, instead of the new NPCs simply existing in some sort of New-NPC-Only chat void.

As I said, sophistry. The ORIGINAL content was untouched. The ONLY changes involved added dialog with new characters. NEW, get it? None, and I repeat, none of the original dialog was changed in any way.
ok thanks guys

i'll think about this one a little longer since it's $36 in my country on gog :/
