So after killing the shadow guy in the shadow temple, when i try to exit the area by going back into the dragon room, it crashes. Anyone had this problem?

BG does these crashes all over the place. And nobody knows exactly why. Save files get corrupt and it mishandles information in your inventory.

I'd recommend going with a different save and seeing if that fixes it (like a quicksave, an autosave or a regular save game -- try all 3 if you can).

If that doesn't work, try dumping your inventory and see if lets you go through.

If it does, then you get to have the fun process of dumping one thing at a time to see what it is that's causing the problem.

If that doesn't work, let us know and maybe there's something else going on.

Do you get any specific error message?

You may try console command to jump to another area and see if it goes well from there.

Tried the console command to jump, but it said it did not have the areas I was trying to jump to. Maybe I am using old codes. I opened a quick save from right before i fought the final guy in the shadow temple, and it let me leave the temple. I have since done several quests. I haven't gone back to see if I can make it through now.

You can take area codes from here. At some time it might be worth going back to check, maybe it was just some messed up variable in that particular save.

Have you been to Bereghost? It can introduce a bug into your saves that causes you to crash when you transfer map regions.

With a little clever pathfinding (to the south then west IIRC) of the outdoor area where you killed the Shade Lord & the Shadow Altar, you can get out of that stone floor area and be free, without having to go back to where the Shadow Dragon is.

I remember I had the same problem, but after a little while using the method I showed, I got out.

Thanks for all the help! I went out questing for a bit, decided dragons needed to die, so I killed the red one, then went back to the shadow temple and killed that one. Completed the quest after with no bugs.
