Even though I went through all the steps here I can't seem to download an un-corrupt setup file through my browser. I have tried skipping the check, but then the installation fails because of a missing file. I would love to try the GoG.com downloader but I can't seem to add the download to my queue from my account page. Any ideas?

Have you tried using a download manager? I used FlashGet 3.3 to download the installer and it worked fine first time.

Ive been trying to get the Download manager working for BG1 all day - reinstalled it, etc - and cant seem to get it to see BG1 as on my queue. Now I cant even get it to log in O_o

/sigh started downloading it via the browser, and say this topic. If it's corrupted, I might cry :(

That FlashGet thing defaulted to Chinese for me, so I decided to use FlashGot in stead. Seems the most popular download manager for FF. It's running now, so here's hoping it works.

I downloaded it using IE 8 and it worked properly.

Oops! Sorry. I forgot to mention to go for version 3.3. I remember the later versions stick it in Chinese with a crap load of adverts on it.. FlashGot is a good alternative as well. Hope it works for you!

I'm also needing help with this, if I do it with my browser it gets corrupted about 60 percent of the way through and quits on me. (I use Firefox) Also I tried downloading the GOG downloader but it never seemed to find Baldur's Gate whenever I tried to use it. Now when I try to install it using the downloader the options not even there, it just says download using browser.nevermind, downloaded it with IE instead and it worked :P

One problem older machines (like mine) have is that when I'm downloading something big, and still try to multitask, I wind up messing up the download. Recently I was awarded an mp3 from some promotional offer from a company, and I downloaded that while doing some resource-sapping javascript website. Wound up corrupting the mp3.

Another issue may be hard drive space. If your HD has to clear itself because there's little room, sometimes this could put a knick in the file that will make it worthless. At least with my mp3 I could still listen to most of it, but with software it'll be ruined even with a small hiccup that may provide.

Beyond that, I'm not sure. For the most part I've been able to download GOGs on this old boat, but once in a while I've had to redo it, probably for the reasons above.

This is seriously obnoxious. I am currently downloading via IE after repeated failures by FF and one failure by IE.Tried again with IE got to about 98% complete and it crapped out. I give up.

Hmm, I have a similar issue myself. It downloads untill 99% or so, then it just waits around for a couple of minutes after which it gives me an "unable to read source blah blah blah" message.

I've been trying to download it since it was out at different hours in different days and it's always the same.

Perhaps using the no-script addon in firefox has something to do with it... I'm trying to download it once more with no-script disabled.

Edit: I can't belive I typoed downloads...

Edit: Nope, same problem "...\setup_baldurs_gate.exe.part could not be saved, because the source file could not be read."

Edit no. 3: Tried Internet Explorer, "Unable to download setup_baldurs_gate.exe from wpc.11dfedgecastcdn.net. The connection with the server was reset"

Guess I'll try a different computer tomorrow or something... I'd say this IS rather frustrating.

For everyone having issues downloading the game fully: please grab a download manager program of some sort and try using that to download instead. I recommend Free Download Manager, but FlashGet or others should work fine as well.

Well I just got Free Download Manager Lite and am downloading Baldur's Gate with it right now...

Oddly enough yesterday I downloaded Psychonauts and had no issues with it; heck it is even larger than Baldur's Gate.

Edit: Actually I remember adding Baldur's Gate to the gog downloader thing before it got removed but never got to actually download it. Perhaps that might have caused some sort of bug?

If you've paid for it, you could always get the install from a friend who has successfully downloaded it.

Anyway the Free Download Manager trick works, so that's great. Still it's ODD that only Baldur's Gate would be affected...
