Hi guys, I purchased this the other night as I have found memories of playing it 10 odd years ago. It installed fine but when I try to launch the game (ie clicking play on the little menu that pops up) the screen goes blank and the laptop has to be manually restarted.

I'm running Windows 7 Pro 64 bit on my laptop, I've tried compatibility mode and running it at 640 x 480 etc.

I've tried finding a solution online but have come up with no answers, i've seen one or two posts on various forums but the topics had no replies. I'm at a loss and would really love to play the game again, would really appreciate any help you can provide!

Are you running as admin as well as in XP SP3 compatibility mode? I have it running fine on Win7 Pro 64 bit (desktop), but I run it this way.

Yes I've tried running it using your suggested settings, still same problem. I'm at a loss really, never had a problem like it with a game before :(
Hmmm got it working now, reinstalled it and everything seems to be fine. The only thing I did the last time was move the shortcut from the desktop to a folder. Oh well working now :) Happy Day!

Make sure you run BG as "Administrator" otherwise it'll hang forever. Same thing happened to me ever since I added some custom portraits to the BG folder.
