In game, there are black boxes that surrounding items and effects sometimes. Any ideas on how to fix?
I am using mods, but this was a problem before the mods.

I guess you are talking about BG1 and you are using a Nvidia graphic card? Then you should try this: https://github.com/jlanger/nvidia_ddraw_fix/downloads. There is a problem with the drivers for older games. If the fix does not work you should try and deactivate hardware acceleration in the opitions. But this can cause the game to run much to slow.

Try running BGConfig.EXE in the game folder. If 3D Acceleration is enabled, try turning it off, or vice-versa. If you disable 3D, see if it works, and if not try ticking the boxes for 16-bit and Software BLTs.

Alternatively when using 3D it might be a video card driver issue. Try updating or rolling back to older drivers.

Ok, then im sorry. The ddrwaw fix works only for older versions of the infinity engine (BG1 or Planescape Torment). If the black boxes occur in BG2 i can only guess it's an issue with the video card driver.

Enabling 3D acceleration worked liked a charm. Thank you both very much!
