Hello! I purchased BG:EE w/Siege of Dragonspear and installed via Galaxy today, upgrading from a previous standalone non-GOG version I had before. Every time I save the game freezes for about an entire minute, including auto-and quicksaves, sometimes prompting the Windows "close unresponsive program" dialog. The saves are successful, even when I force close, and they load correctly and instantaneously. But I've owned enough copies of BG and EE to know this should not be happening, and considering how often I quicksave and that the game autosaves everytime you travel, this is essentially a game-breaking bug for me. Does anyone know what could be going on? I've never had an issue with this until this latest upgrade.

I'm running Windows 10 64-bit if that's important.

This maybe the source of your problem unfortunately. The games are built for GOG differently than other places (hence the delay in upgrades). So I would suggest you uninstall the game completely and re-install it using a proper download, preferably by downloading the offline installers.
I was pleasantly surprised that Beamdog actually got back to me so quickly with a solution. For anyone else having this problem, here is the post on their forum that helped me:

https://forums.beamdog.com/discussion/72294/bgee-bg2ee-long-save-and-transitioning-areas-possible-work-around

The simple solution is buried under a pretty verbose explanation, but basically all you need to do is download the DLL file they provide at the bottom of the post and extract it into the BG:EE root directory. The issue was instantly solved for me. Hope this helps anyone else who might have this problem, sorry if it's been addressed before.

I *really* hope you scanned that file with a robust virus scanner. I'm surprised at Beamdog for pushing a file downloaded from dll-files.com.
Well I didn't before, but I just scanned it with malwarebytes and Windows Defender (probably neither what you'd consider "robust") and didn't discover any threats. Maybe you could tell me, you must have downloaded it yourself as it's not hosted on dll-files.com, it only notes that it came from there in the txt file in the archive...

That a wrong assumption. I *never* download anything from that site. If you read the guy's blurb on the Beamdog forum he states: "The .dlls I have here (and tested this morning) were all downloaded from www.dll-files.com." That site is a known virus vector, same with most "dll" download sites.

It's a weird OpenGL bug that Beamdog is hitting. You can turn on the alternate renderer to get fast saves but that causes other problems.

Don't hold your breath on it being fixed anytime soon.

e: guess I should have read the thread... btw - anti-virus software only catches known malware.

I'm aware that anti-virus software only catches known viruses. Let's just assume the file Beamdog sent me doesn't have a virus and I'll let you guys know if it does.

Beamdog IS a virus.
