I own a copy of BGEE through Beamdog's client. If I buy SoD through GOG will it be compatible? Thanks!

No, the expansion needs to be purchased from the same store as the base game. In fact, I don't believe GOG will even let you buy the expansion if you don't own the base game on GOG as well.

you are better getting it off Beamdog as the Gog one is buggy

I've seen a few people say this. What makes the GOG version more buggy than the Beamdog version?

(Not doubting you - I've just never seen anyone say what the actual bugs are, so I'd like to know what to watch out for as I'm getting ready for another playthrough soon.)

1st I've play over 100 hours of both the Beamdog and Gog versions

what makes the Gog version more buggy = because Gog adds it as a Dlc ontop of the base game code... Beamdog replaces the main game code with the Dlc code

in short the game was designed [and bug tested] on Beamdog then just ported [untested] to Gog... there are several dozen places this breaks the game logic like for example the shield {buckler} you get from friendly arm inn should be a single item however in the Gog build you can just keep getting another one every time you go back to the inn

Yeah but ultimately i think getting it on GOG, where you already have a large part of your library, is better than buying it on launcher you are only going to use for a couple of games.
