So I've just done both a clean download with no mods installed off GOG and launching the game, bam, crash. I believe it's the cinematics that's causing it to crash. (I have no problems with the vanilla BG2 game from my original discs). Any ideas on how to solve this?

I am having the same issue, even did a complete wipe and reinstall of the game and windows.

I have the same problem when starting from GOG launcher. Both BG I and BG II. But it seems that when you start the game from folder where it is installed (like: D/GOG Galaxy/Games/BG I/launch) everything works perfectly fine.
