maddogg2020: I'm getting concerned since I've only been able to run the game once. I get nothing but launch crashes after playing for 2 hours Friday with no issues. I know I meet reqs, only thing that could be "old" about my rig is OS is win 7. I'm guessing they hosed an update or one got pushed while I was playing that broke things.
J Lo: Have you tried not using the launcher? If you have Galaxy, go to the two lines with circles in them at the top of the page. Click it and mouse over to "manage installation". After that, click on "show folder". In this folder, you'll see something that says "Launch Baldur's Gate 3". Double click on it.
Yeah, I tried that too. Ran as admin, same result. it seems to be related to fullscreen resolution change to play whatever the opening cinematic is. I'm thinking this because the game originally started with a resolution auto chosen that wasn't my desktop res. I changed it in the options to something more suitable to me and it ran fine and quit normally. Hasn't started since even after deleting the config files for it to make a fresh one at defaults.
I use a TV as a monitor that is 720, because of forced overscan built into it I have to scale the display. Sometimes causes issues with things that want specific resoltuions, but usually works if I go to a specific one like the native 1280x720, but it still doesn't work with this. Was already using directx 11, vulcan gets same result but white screen instead of black. It's crashing the instant it starts. I have the latest graphics drivers.
On that note, the launcher is in a massive resolution that prevents me seeing the top of the window or moving it too. I know there's people that would say I need to "get with the times" and use a higher resoltuion, but staying in a ratio that matches the native is not only best practive for program compatibility, the next highest from 1600x900 is not only so fine I would have to switch to high DPI desktop messing up other programs, it actually strains my eyes to the point of sickness even on monitors made for it.
ussnorway: well yes officially i.e, as told by Larian the min spec are Windows 10 64 bit and Gog just copy pastes the same old bullshit from one game to another which is why it says Win 7, 8 and 10 on the gog page... they just don't give two shits because you can ask for your money back
yet it started just fine on Friday on win 7 for me. Why do you think the directx 11 API is there as an option to begin with?
