Greetings my fellow Infinity Engine game lovers, I have scoured the internet through various forums (gibberlings3,IronWorks,Beamdog, etc.) looking for a solution to this problem with no avail. I recently bought a new graphics card (Nvidia GTX 750 Ti) and have encountered a major issue for Baldur's Gate 1 & 2. The speed of the entire computer jumps from normal to super slow lagging visual and auditorialy. It will jump back into normal speed at random and jump out of it. I can't pin point anything in the game that causes it ie. menu, spells, battles, selecting items, saving. They all attribute to the lag at random; I can play for about 10 minutes before the whole game crashes and my audio is left stuttering until I restart the computer. Please guys, I know this has been discussed at nausium but I can't figure this out and I'm not the most computer savvy individual but I can fix it under the guidance of someone who is. I really love these games and would love to play them on my new setup. Can someone please hold my hand and walk me through this?? Thanks!
PS: I'm not using any of the "enhanced" editions
Hardware:
-Nvidia GeForce GTX 750 Ti (newest driver)
-6 gigs RAM
-Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit
-Intel Pentium Dual Processor 3.20GHz
-Direct X 11
soultutions I've tried:
-set affinity of baldur.exe to multiple CPUs
-turned on/off 3D acceleration
-turned on/off automated speed adjustment
-tried 16 & 32 bit colors
-when using 16bit coloring, turned on/off software transparent BLT
-opened in compitablity mode with 98,2000,XP,7
-used the microsoft application compatibility tool to "force direct draw emulation"
-updated nvidia driver to newest (heard older versions work better though)
