Do I remember correctly that you need to sell the first Ankheg shell to the blacksmith, then the second Ankheg shell can be sold for the Armour--- and this allows you to sell subsequent shells to the Blacksmith. But if you sell the first one, then that shuts off further sales and only a guy in Baldurs Gate (City) will buy the shells? I admit I going from memory here. A failing memory perhaps.

Sorry for failing to put Ankheg in the tag line.

You just need the shell in your inventory and haggle for him to make the armour -- *don't* sell it to him.

But once you get the armor, he will continue to purchase the shells?

I believe so (been a long time). If he doesn't, Fenten in Baldur's Gate buys them. Officer Vai *might* buy them, since she is marked as buying 'miscellany'. Trivia: Officer Vai has the least depreciation of all shops in the game. Just NEVER talk to her, after giving her the first lot, without a bandit scalp in your inventory, otherwise she disappears back to Baldur's Gate.

I think he stops buying them after a certain period of time, or perhaps after you agree to have him make the armor.

I started a new game with a multi fighter/mage. I'll test it when I get back to that point. Thanks.

I took a look at a fairly reliable walkthrough source, and it mentioned if you decline the armor, then you have 10 days to go back and accept before the offer expires. I also seem to remember something about bringing as many ankheg shells as you can, to reduce the price of the armor, so selling them might expire when you have him make the armor.

Good luck.
