Soooooo,
I got the whole collection from gog BG1 + BG2 and also got the complete collection of the enhanced edition.

The principal differences for me are:
Mods
Text
Cutscenes

I know that almost ALL the mods that works on the GOG versions wont work on the enhanced edition AT ALL, not even updating the WeiDo version.

I like the fact that in the enhanced edition the dialog text that the characters say wont overlap with them, so the dialog wont impede me to see the characters. This happens when i play using the widescreen mod with the GOG version.
However i hate the fact that some of the mods like the unfinished business wont work with the enhanced edition.
I also know that i can mod the enhanced edition to have the original cutscenes, but that would change the experience for the enhanced edition. I mean, i do like the new cutscenes, but i also hate that they just scrapped some of them... (If you think that those cutscenes do add to the first time experience please mention it, since this would be my first playthrough, i want to have the best experience)

I WILL play BOTH, that's why i bought them :P

My question is: Which one should i play FIRST to get the BEST first experience. Also which mods? Or no mods?

Btw... Please give me arguments, not just: Just play the original version. Enhanced edition sucks. I need arguments to decide which will give me the best first experience, i am NOT ASKING which is the best version. Only the best FIRST experience.

If you agree with someone please do say so! :D

Thanks for your answers by the way :D

From what I understand according to the forums, EE has new bugs in it that were not present in the original games (both vanilla and modded). Given that, I'd suggest sticking to the original for a first playthrough, if only because it's more stable.

It seems that the bugs are fixed.
They kinda fussed the bug patches and mods from BG with the enhanced edition, also the BG tweak mod is now compatible with the enhanced edition.
You should begin from the originals. Do not use mods. Finish them, use their great exploits (like the one for keeping 1's items to 2 game), enjoy and have fun. Then play the EEs, that are something like roughly the originals modded, with fixes and extra content. Keep in mind that EEs are vastly inferior, and their strongest point is somewhat updated graphics and relatively easier time finding online players. The new extra content is nice and shiny, yet it faqs up the lore and game mechanics (it allows certain class combinations that shouldn't exist, like ranger kits being able to dual except for the beastmaster, among other things).
FFS, don't use exploits. It's no different than using mods. First run through the game, go vanilla and enjoy the experience.
